Got my new RGP lenses yesterday, one of them anyway, the other has to be sent back to change it.
My optician seemed to think of this as a downgrade from my kerasoft lenses, but I am finding these so much better! They are smaller and easier to put in/take out, the are actually more comfortable thank the soft ones I had as odd as that sounds and the vision - WOW! I can see further and clearer than I have been able in the past 10 years, colours are bolder and more vibrant, there is one ONE of things now too! My opto says my right eye vision is that of a normal person now, unfortunately the same can't be said for my left.
Just thought I'd share as I'm so happy with these RGPs.

Re: Switched to RGPs - very happy
So I have been wearing my ccontacts happily for the past 3 months.
In the past week or so they have started making my eyes ache. They also sting like crazy when I first put them in. The headaches are also getting quite bad, although vision is still very very good.
I wear them for 13 hours a day 7 days a week, due to my job. This hasn't been a problem before. Is it still the case with rgp lenses that you should have a day off wearing them? Getting quite unbearable now. Just thought I'd seen advice before I book an appointment.
Many thanks get again.

Do book another appointment. People vary in how well they tolerate lenses and whether they need to take a break from them. But if they are now making your eyes ache, then it's certainly worth trying to give them a rest - whether that's one day a week, or days when you can significantly reduce the wearing time. If your eyes sting when you first put them in, are you following all the rules for cleaning, changing the wetting solutions daily etc?
All the best

Thank you for the quick reply.
I don't have glasses at the moment so when i don't have lenses in, I can barely do anything, not even watch TV.
I clean and soak them in all in one solution overnight and use these two vile things that smell of chlorine once every three weeks as told by my opto.

That sounds like protein remover to me.
You may need to ask your optician whether a different solutions may be better for you. I have used all in one solutions in the past and I not found them as good as having a separate cleaner and soaking/wetting solution. If you have a separate cleaning solution it needs to be carefully rinsed off (otherwise it stings the eyes) whereas it's easier not to rinse properly with an all in one solution.
Do get a pair of back up glasses as without them you'll be tempted to overwear your lenses to see even it is just to watch TV.
