My consultant has wrote to my GP to suggest that I am sent to see a Neurologist about some of the symptoms I am experiencing mailnly a change in my visual fields, constant white/black flashing lights and tingling sensation in my left check and nose.
Anyway..not really sure if anyone else has seen a neurolgist and what I can expect?
Have an appointment with GP next so will hopefully learn more then?
Cheers,
Dave.

Thanks for the reply Lynn.
Well...my little tale started 16months ago now. I noticed my unaided vision was worsening and put it down to my KC.
This continued and I developed a large 'blind' area in my left eye visual field. No 'black vail' or anything like a retina issue, just when driving and looking forwards lamposts, signs etc would dissapear and then reappper as they went into this point in my vision.
I later had a spate of several really painfull headaches and migrane type eposodes, which I had never before. I also started to get constant white flashes in my left eye, but ONLY visiable when looking at bright backgrounds...especially the sky whilst driving down a motorway for example.
At the same time I was getting facial pain, and pain behind my left eye.
I was sent for an MRI headscan that proved normal, has several checks on my retina, a visual field test that also proved normal and just before xmas a series of ERG tests.
All tests have returned normal but what has worried recently is teh continued reduction in my left eye vison and a 'pins and needles' tingling sensation below my left eye and into my nose.
It may sound strange, but it feels like something is breaking down behind my eye in the muscle area, when I close my left eye I cant feel any muscles tensing, even if I close it really tight! The structure in my left upper cheek feels flat and 'thin' where the right has definition and a certain 'chubbyness'!
The flashing lights are constant, like the flashers you see when getting up quick sometimes...but all the time! I get the odd single flash of a blue or red light also...about the size of a pencil point in my vision, but there seems to be no patten with this. I have a significant number of floaters, which have increased in recent months.
The visual field problem has continued to worsen which is my biggest worry, distance vision is fine but anything around my central field of vision is massively distorted, with a blind area to the left visual field.
I guess my consulatant thinks the neurology route is the next route to go..after that who knows!
Phew..well there we are, that was a good exercise even if I just re-read it before I get to see the neurologist!
I just wonder what other tests are available or have they all been exhausted?
Thanks againÂ…Â….Dave.

Hmmm........
This is really strange because you have very definite symptoms that should show up in say, the visual field testing but all the tests prove negative!
I agree the neurologist is the way to go as the loss of sensation in the face and pins and needles indicate a nervous system involvement somehow but the MRI is normal!
Please keep me posted!
