Yes, the lenses are RGP, Rose K, made from Boston materials. And it really feels very nice when I put a drop of Systane with the lens on. Here I found another article concerning Systane:

AHA!!!!
Thank you VERY much for that link!! To be honest....I actually use them with my own lenses....I have been reluctant to say that because I do not want to be seen endorsing something that may prove to be a problem - committees are always coming up with do's and don'ts that sometimes fly in the face of common sense.
If you find it very comfortable then I say go for it. Interestingly, I saw a patient today who I had found had epithelial dystrophy a couple of months ago. This is when the surface cells of the cornea become very disturbed and when you look in the eye with fluoroscein.. a yellow dye that fluoresces under blue light ... it looks like the eye has contour maps on it.
I advised him to use Systane and he came in today for a check up and it was totally gone! I have never seen that go so fast before.... usually, if the patients is using Sno tears or something similar, they have to use it 8 times a day and even then the problem, never goes away fully.... so I was well impressed!
(And no, I don't have shares in Alcon... I wish I had now!)
Again thanks for that - I have been looking to see if there is any advice of use with lenses but haven't found it yet.. so if any of you that are on the net a lot can track this down it would be most helpful!

Hi Lynn
Sorry I should have been clearer
My eyes get very tired and itchy after wearing them all day at work - I work on a computer all day and the programmes I use aren't very user friendly and the colours/desktops cannot be altered as they are nationwide programmes.
I find if I wear them to go out to the pub or for a meal that the air conditoning, heating and smokey atmosphere make my eyes feel the same and sometimes they feel like they are scratching as well.
Thanks Kathy

Katherine...
Sounds like you are getting dry eyes - which is very common for KC's. When you are on ht ecomputer all day, your blink rate slows down to help you concentrate - which means you tend to dry out a lot. Air conditioning, smoky atmospheres and so on also make it worse.
The Systane used before you insert them WILL help this plus use of Refresh during the day. You can get them at pharmacies or optometrists. I'll see if I can find an online source as well.
The other thing it may be is as I said before - that your cornea may well be changing and you may need a looser fit. I found this a lot in Trinidad which was either very hot or in air conditioning - changing the fit did often help.
Try the drops first though, as this may well solve the problem.

I have today ordered some Systane. I went to a local chemist with the name and who makes it - Alcon. He said he hadn't heard of it but looked it up in his special book and hopes to have it in on Wednesday. It sounds an amazing product and I can't wait to give it a try. Lynn- you sound fantastic and thank you for your advice - you certainly have had such experience of KC is is very refreshing. All the best to you all and I hope to see some of you at the conference.

Well....
you are not supposed to.... but I have read articles by US optoms using it with RGP's and I have been using it with my soft lenses for 2 years now with no probs....
Case of manufacturers covering their backs...
All I can "officially" advise is that you use it b4 and after...OK?
Lynn
PS can you post the postoptics website adress for us here?
