Help/Advice......

Postby sheila smith » Thu 17 Feb 2005 3:42 pm

Where can I find help/advice here on this site for my adult son.
I have only just joined this forum group & I'm hoping someone can help. My son is 43 yrs old & has had Keratoconus for many years knowing it would gradually deteriorate.
So far, nothing at all has been done. He went to Moorfields a few yrs ago & there was nothing then they could offer him to help
He has attended the local eye Hosp here in Brighton & had some VERY uncomfortable moments when contact lenses have been unsuccessfully tried. He's now facing near blindness & is going to Moorfields when his appointment comes thro'.
As he also suffers with severe eczema & would, it was thought, rub his eyes, this has been the main difficulty with contact lenses that also would, they said, deter an attempt at a cornnea graft....the test proved he would have rejected it...I hate to see him suffering so. He has carried on all these yrs as if nothing was wrong ....now he is sitting a lot & holding his head down as his eyes R so sore with the eczema too poor Peter....I hope someone will reply & have helpful ideas.....from Peter's Ma....sheila

Hi Shiela... welcome to the forum.... I've only recently been diagnosed with KC and am sorry to hear whats peter going through.. i really don;t know much about it and am waiting on my first pair of lenses (Or whatever tehy tell me)!
I'm sure people can give you advice who've had the condition for a while... They certainly helped me and it helps to talk bout it here!
hope peter feels better soon!
