Hi Dave

Sorry you didn't get far with your visit.

Good start for research that I found is a book called Neuro-Opthalmology (third edition) Ed. Joel S. Glaser published by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins ISBN 0-7817-1729-9. Its heavy reading and you really need a medical dictionary on your knee whilst reading it. But it explains things really well once the lingo isn't a hurdle.

Should give you some stuff to be looking at and give you some ideas of what to look for more detail on the web.

I got a copy from the local library they took three weeks to get it but it was well worth the wait.

Best thing i did was get a second opinion. My consultant was blinkered until I changed him and had a fresh set of eyes on the case.

Good Luck

Drew

Re flashy lights...
Have you been checked for detached retina/ damaged retina? If not, ask to be checked asap. The floaters and seeing grey/shadowy patches would also tie in with this.

I agree....I know from a friend who has a family with a history of short sightness whos two family members had detached retinas...as its more likely to happen when your short sighted or very myopic....(and if not corrected well....i think!)

Due to the fact that the father of the family getting a detached retina and knowing the symtoms the son was quickly treated and is ok now....now the symtoms did come on quickly (while driving) and as he already knew the symtoms from his fathers experiance, he knew he needed to go to hospital straight away...his retina was re-atached by an operation straight way (he lives in the states)...and is fine now...i'm just wondering if the symtoms have gone on for a long time if it would actually be a detatached retina....but get some medical advice or a secound opinion or even a thrid opinion if need be....

catch you all soon....
