Postby Grim10 » Sun 16 Sep 2012 7:59 am

Does wearing lenses increasing the risk for a corneal rejection?
I had my graft done 10 years ago and have been wearing glasses until now.

I wear one contact lens under my glasses. This gives me good corrected vision. I know others who wear contact lenses post graft but have never heard it suggested that this could increase the possibility of rejection.

There may be other problems associated with lens wear after a graft.

Every good wish.

It was ten years post graft that I had to start wearing contact lenses again. I found the problems with RGP lenses were that same that I experienced pre-graft for the first coupe of years, but then I became sensitised to RGP lenses which can happen to anyone with KC that has never had a graft.

Since changining to soft lenses for KC, no such probvlems and to me are just like wearing normal soft lenses.

As far as I am aware the issues with contact lenses post graft are no different to pre-graft. My grafts are over 20 years old now and all is well.
