Black Dot in Vision

Postby Jennie_5678 » Tue 03 Jan 2012 6:35 pm

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me - I keep getting a really annoying black dot in my vision! Is it a KC thing? or something different? I think I will go and see my optometrist if it doesnt go away by next week!

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2012!

Every good wish for 2012.

I think that your instinct serves you well; a visit to your optometrist is a very good idea. Let us know how you get on.

By the way, in Scotland we now go to our optometrist for first level ophthalmology casualty. They can go onto their computer and make an appointment for us to see a surgeon. This is a very good service, but I understand it has not been rolled out to the rest of the UK.

Hi Jennie

I'm new to the forum today, this is my first post.

I've knowingly had KC for 30 years, and probably had black dots, or in my case, odd shapes, in my vision for some 10/15 years. I've had these checked out and have been told that they are not related to KC, but just 'floaters', little bits that have become detached from somewhere in the eye. Mine are harmless, just very annoying when I think there is a spider running across the floor or desk!

As Andrew said, best to get it checked out.

Fiona
