Post-CXL vision recovery.

Postby harker » Mon 15 Aug 2011 9:04 am

Hello all!

I had CXL done on my eye about ten days ago. The vision is still fairly bad - though I've definitely noticed improvement from the blurred, hazy, mega-ghosted mess of the first few days.

I know it's natural for vision to fluctuate over the first few weeks/months - but I'd just like to hear people's accounts of post-op recovery. With specs, I had 20/30 or thereabouts before the procedure, so would be interested to hear the recovery experience of similar patients.

Hi

Yup, I was wondering that too. I had my right eye done 7 weeks ago and my left eye done 3 weeks ago. I'm a graphic designer and so stare at a computer screen for 8 hours a day. I'm very aware that the screen is inches from my nose and that I'm squinting and having to try and focus quite hard. I was told that some people notice an improvement, but I feel that my vision has gone in the opposite direction. It's early days, but I was advised that recovery is very quick.

hi, where did you both get the procedure done, was the epithelium removed or did they use the Daya Disruptor.

Hi

Should have added to my post that it can take 2/3 months for things to settle down. I'm finding I have some better days than others, but suspect it's mainly down to whether it's sunny or not (my eyes are particularly sensitive to light - par for the course!).

The Daya disruptor was used on both my eyes. Where?... the clue's in the name.

C.

Epi-off at Accuvision London, for me. No disrupter - full removal by scraping.

I had a full removal by scraping too and my vision was back to pre CXL in about 3 weeks. I'm now 7 weeks after CXL and the sensitivity to light has more or less gone too.

Four weeks in and the vision still isn't back to normal. It's getting there, though, and my vision was very good pre-op, so I'm not too shocked it's taking a while.

In terms of acuity, I feel at times that I can 'pick out' surprisingly fine detail. It's just the ghosting is more prominent than it was before (in that the ghosts are slightly larger and more opaque).

Caroline, how are you doing?

harker,
are you still on glasses or did you switch to lenses after the op?
I noticed you had a stable k , with 20/20 and 20/30 on each eye Do you have something close to that now?
Also i agree with you that ghosting can accompany visual acuity, its strange, when I can read every line on the chart and still see double vision as the ghost image becomes sharper when i wear my lens in , so does my visual acuity.
I am in the same boat as you were , strong vision with glasses and stable K . Would you say you are happy overall with the post op vision, and of course the burden you got to off-shoulder :)
