SoClear new lenses- excited!!!

Congratulations Wolves! Glad these SoClear lenses have worked out for you. Like you I have found RGB lenses to be a real pain and I ended up giving up on them altogether. It must feel such a relief to be free of them. I am going to request to try these SoClear lenses with my next appointment!

Hi Wolves, great news about the So2clear, I have tried one for my right eye (as a replacement for a SoftPerm which was really comfy, but is now no longer manufactured). The fit wasn't quite right and I couldn't tollerate it for longer than about 30 minutes. I'm going back on Monday to try a slighlty different fit so fingers crossed! I'm hoping I will have somthing like the success that you have had! Not sure what will happen if it doesn't work for me as I've tried a lot of other lenses without success. I imagine it will be back to the Consultant to discuss a graft.

(PS, is it Wolves as in Wanderes???!?!?)

I've had my replacement So2Clear for four days now and so far it feels great! As soon as I put it in it felt good, and I managed to keep it in for four hours (felt like I could have kept it in longer but I have been advised to start with 4 hours wear and build up by an hour a day). I've had it in for 7 hours today and it still feels really good. I think my photophobia is better, my vision is great, and my eye looks less red and feels lees sore afterI take the lens out and when I first put it in! I'm hoping things continue to go well as I increase the amount of wear but so far things are looking good.

I am hoping I might be able to try one for my grafted eye as well!

(Won't mention football again, thought we might have more than the keratoconus in common but I'll keep quiet about being a Wolves fan, especially after Saturday! ).

You may be pleased to know that SO2clear lenses are a US product manufactured by Dakota Sciences, and also manufactured in UK under license from Dakota, so you should have no problem in getting them. One word of caution though, what works for one person may not work for others, SO Clear lenses are fantastic when they work, but they dont always work. This obviously goes for all other lens types too! You might want to start by checking Dakota Sceinces website to find practitioners fitting them in your area and take it from there. Good luck

I have a SoClear lens for my right eye now as well.
Picked up the lens on Tuesday. Its even more comfortable then the one in my left eye. Just building up the wear time with it now. so far so good.

Does anyone know what happen if they remove that tiny hole on the lens? I went to try on SoClear lens the other day and they were quite comfy and vision was OK (better than my RGP fitting). Well according to the fitter, the next pair he will be ordering for me won't have those hole because my eyes are so dry that my lid use to "stick" to the lens and force it to move, this resulting in the loss of liquid in the lens. Does anyone know what's the difference between a normal lens and a "holeless" one?

The hole in the lens (known as a "fenestration", to use a big word for no real reason ) is intended to improve the circulation of fluid around the lens. If you'd had dry eyes then I'd have guessed that the "hole" would have been used to improve matters. So it's interesting that the opposite is true -- the person designing your lens has opted to drop it because it is causing poor fluid transfer. Presume this is the sort of clever stuff they teach the professionals at optometry school... The fenestration is prone to accumulation of debris suspended in the tear film and it can become difficult to keep clean so maybe that was what was happening.
