SoClear new lenses- excited!!!

Postby wolves2100 » Mon 12 Jul 2010 8:27 pm

Hi, I have just joined the forum today. I have had KC for 9 years now- wearing RGP lenses the whole time. I have experienced all the sore eyes, head aches, swelling, watery eyes ETC. I've had really really bad days, weeks and months but realise its just part of life now. Untill recently i have had the same specilist since the day I found out i have KC, he advised RGP lenses where the only option so i took his word for it. He has now gone private and i have a new specilist.

I have has 2 appointments with my new specilist and he has introduced me to SoClear lenses, i had my fitting on friday and for the half hour i had them in it felt amazing, felt i had no lenses in and amazing vision. i will be picking them up next week.

Incase you are unaware of these lenses they are the same size as soft lenses so alot bigger the RGP ones and they feel thinner and as they cover more of your eyes they look alot more dome shaped.

Now i have been told these lenses are brand new to the UK so dont think too many people have yet experinced them but if you have i'd love some feedback on what they are like over a peiod longer then half an hour.

Any way i'll wear them for a month or so and let you know what they are like.

Chat soon :D

Hi wolves2100 and welcome!
As you say, Soclears have only been available in the UK for a year or so, but there are people here who are now using them, and I think the feedback has been pretty good. I'm sure you'll hear from some of them. Meanwhile, good luck!
Anne

I was tried with SocClears about 2 years ago - i wasnt a lucky one that they worked for but saying that no contact lenses have worked for me as yet, given up on them again currently. I can manage with glasses as i only have more advanced KC in the left eye, right eye is predominantly shortsightedness with extremely early stage KC

Hi Wolves,

I tried a pair back in February and the test set looked so promising; although I was warned that they don't work for everyone. I was so exited to be getting state of art lenses! I watched all the videos on-line to learn how to put them in and take them out. I was really looking forward to getting them at my appointment in May. Unfortunately after an hour's wear at my appointment the optom didn't like the look of them on my eyes and I was unable to take them home with me. I go back next month to try another pair.

I'm impressed with the fact that you are getting a pair within a fortnight. I'm finding that the wait to get the new lenses is so frustrating!

Hope they work out for you,

Lia

Hi Wolves, and welcome to the forum. My optometrist and I spoke about SO2 clear lenses. In the end another idea worked well for me before we proceeded with that one, but it remains on the back boiler for another time.

Let us know how things are going.

I wear a SoClear lens also. It took a few months to get it right, but the comfort level is really amazing. Delighted with them so far.

Hiya just a quick update- Had my so clear lenses for around a week, or what it thought was so clear.
wheni recived then i thought they looked smaller then when i had my fitting but i thought they must be right. i wore them for 3/4 days then all of the sudden i became really sensitie to sunlight, the left lens kept getting sucked to my eye and i kept loosing focus. so went to see my specilist yesterday and turnes out his practice have sent the wrong lenses, the presription is correct but compleatly wrong lens, the one i was wearing was something called a No7 lens nothing like the so clear and very bad fitting. i have been wearing sunglasses indoors for last few days, always looked like i has been crying and it has scratched my right eye, i have had to revert back to my regular RPG for now and i have been given eye drops. he was very sorry and will be sending the correct lenses shortly.

Wolves

I am so sorry to learn of this difficulty. What are they going to do now?

Hi, well i have now had the correct lenses for about 3 weeks now and they are amazing, the left one is a little loose but nothing major to worry about, i will bring it in my next appointment in a few weeks and they may adjust it. There is a tiny hole in each lens whcih lets the fluid circulate around my eye so they never dry up. i can wear them for 11-12 hours straight without any proplems. i actully did gardening and sanded the doors in my house without goggles and not once did the dust irritate my eyes. I feel i can open my eyes much wider then i use to. even people are saying to my i dont always look tired now. Honeslt my eyes feels the greatest they have in the last 8-9 years. For now truly a success story. :D :D :D :D :D
