I've been given a date in August to have the operation under general anesthetic for my right eye. It will be my first ever operation done on me. I have been advised to take 10 days off sick. At work, I have filled in the planned absence forms for the pre-op 2.5 weeks before and operation itself and recovery. I've been diagnosed with KC for 3 years and tried contacts but my eye was streaming and sore within 20 mins of putting the lens in.
What can't I do whilst I'm recovering? My parents say I mustn't watch too much TV and the same applies to the computer.

Re: Intacs 10 days off work
I had intacts 5 weeks ago, I was told to avoid getting any dust, smoke or dirt into the eye for a few weeks. At 4 weeks the epithelium still hadnt completely healed so continuing with all the drops and this advice for another 4 weeks. I half live on my computer as i cant see the tv, read books or do my old hobbies with my current vision, my consultant said there was no problem at all with using the computer, im sure same applies with tv. I enjoy playing an online game with a fairly large group of friends and was online killing bosses all evening later the same day I had my intacts!
My vision isn't any better than before (yet), apparently it can take 3 months or more to settle. I cant get lenses or glasses yet as my vision isnt stable, and my previous prescriptions have changed so are useless to me. If you have good vision in your other eye I am sure the waiting time for visual improvement wont be a problem.
Good luck, I hope it all goes well for you
