Postby djain3 » Fri 27 Nov 2009 11:02 am

Hi,

I have got my CXL done on 24/10/2009 and still I have been taking eye drops.

I was wondering till how long I have to take eye drops for my treated eye. :?

Any comments.

PS: Someone who has got CXL done, share experience.

Thanks,
Deepak

I was told to use my antibitoic drops for 1 week after the procedure, and after that i was fine to use my normal eye drops for dry eye.

Hello,

this is what I was given:

vigomox, take 4 drops each day starting 2 days before the surgery and until the bandage contact lens is removed.(approx 1 week)
FML, starting 4 times a day after surgery for approcimately a month. Of course with time you gradually decrease the number of times you are taking it for example first 1 week and a half 4 times per day then next week 3 times per day then the following week 2 times per day then 1 time and then you discontinue its use.
Artificial tears at least 6 times a day and you can keep taking them wnv you feel you have dry eyes
and a gel which you take once before bedtime, its a thicker lubricant so your eyes dont dry out at night.

Hi Everyone,

I was advised to use Vigamox (antibiotic) 4 days prior to surgery. And 10 days after surgery for 4 times a day.

I have been using Flarex ( steroid eye drops ) for last one month and still have to use for two more week. I don't why such prolong use of this steroid has been suggested by my doctor.

Also, teardrops(genteal) to avoid dryness.

And Teargel once a day.

Regards,
Deepak

When I did my prk+cxl, I was advised to use eye drops if and whenever I wanted them. There was no limit in the number or time length of using them.
In fact, because of some eye dryness, I still use drops some times.

There is no problems in using the drops which relieves from driness..

I am concerned with prolong use of steroid eye drops... :x

I think that most of us recognize that there is a cost/benefit balance in the use of steroids. On the one hand they are a wonderfully effective way to prevent or reduce inflammation; on the other hand they are not risk-free. My own take on this was to use them as long as they were needed for the first purpose, and then to let my ophthalmologist put right the consequences of the second!

Every good wish.

Sorry djain3, I read very quickly this thread's posts.
Well, I was taking Maxidex drops 4 times a day for one month and 2 times a day for another one month, so I guess it is not that uncommon to use steroids for so long.
