SPORT - Help!

Postby legbreaking » Tue 22 Jan 2008 12:14 pm

Hi,

New member…

I have KC and currently wear rigid lenses which greatly improves my vision.

I have a few queries with regards to sport and any advice would be gratefully received.

I’m a keen sportsman and am particularly passionate about cycling and rugby. Cycling is not a problem because I can wear my lenses and can happily pedal away with no sight issues.

However, rugby is becoming a real problem. I don’t wear my lenses when playing (as recommended by my optometrist) and increasingly my lack of vision is becoming a real problem. i.e. it is effecting the way I play and my enjoyment of the game.

How can I improve my vision (even if it is marginal) enabling me to play rugby?

Is there a type of soft lens that could potentially improve my vision enabling me to play?

INTACS?

Is there anything else?

Is it possible?

Help!

Check out my new post on Kerasoft lenses. They might be an option for you? I know how hard it is when it comes to sport. How this helps.

I would think that, even if they did not give you the same correction as hard lenses, soft lenses would present less of a hazard to your health when playing rugby. I played at University, and wore glasses on the field. I was a winger and not being able to see the prop forward never really seemed much of a handicap. :D

i guess you could consider the surgical option as well, intacs and/or inplantable lenses maybe? i don't know about them much but you could research them.

good luck,

Hi legbreaking and welcome.

Intacs may not be suitable for you. The reason I say this is that there are a lot of variables which affect a persons suitability for this procedure, and would suggest that you seek proper medical consultation about this. Even if you are suitable for Intacs, it may not give you the results you require. I was fortunate in that my vision drastically improved, others however have been less fortunate and not seen much if any improvement.

Kerasoft lenses may well be worth checking out.
