Hi All, some advice needed.
does the immense pain of rgp's ever go away and do they ever sit in the middle of your eye for more than 10 seconds!!!
I have got my new ones today and every time I try put it in they sink to the nose corner of the eye. so bottom left for left eye and bottom right for the right eye and then they are impossible to get out.
Each time I put them in, they travel to the same place and its really frustrating...they worked in the optoms room but not now...what am i doding wrong...how do i recentre them arghhhh
Day 1----disaster

John,
In your position I think I'd head back to the optometrist to ask whether the lenses are the right fit.

Re: My RGP'S
Yes i would go back too. Its possible it worked in Optoms because you were sat still looking at one object, but i doubt you do that in real life!!
I have a similar sort of problem with mine and it is all down to fit. My new set are coming today and i am positive that they will sit higher in the eye and therefore give me a better vision.
I dont know what size your lens diameter is but i find that smaller sizes make them slip more. I am looking into the Rose K2's and Rise K2 IC range as they can go up to 11mm diameter. That may be a bit big but i think the idea is they cover a larger area so it doesnt matter if they slip as much, or they grip better because of their size. Who knows as long as it works !
I''ll keep you updated on any progress i make. In the meantime you could try a soft bandage lens under your RGP, as i find that this makes my RGP lens "stick" to the soft lens and hold it in place better. Again your Optom can assist.

Re: My RGP'S
Well I think I would give an update
I have managed to perservere and thought monaing after 1 attempt was a bit lame per se
So I perservered and yes when I put them in they still go in to all sorts of places. I got michelle (my gf) to watch me put them in and she says I always go to look straight up as soon as my eye makes contact with the lens. This is what the problem is and I found it too painfull to move my eye to chase the lens round.
Anyway I have learnt how to recentre the lens from every part of the eye and now in the right eyeI am wearing for 10-12 hours a day...Im trying 14 hours today...anyone recommend a max time. Barry said 16 hours is his max but the odd day of 18-20 is ok...so long as its not every day!
My small problem is my left eye...getting the lens out. I cannot doit. I dont have the dexterity to do the pincer method and pulling the eye lids just knocks it off centre...twice I have had to go to specsavers to have them take it out. However I begged them for a plunger and they gave me one...works a treat...so Im getting to about 7 hours tolerence in my left eye!
Do I notice them...for the first 30 mins yes...then I just get used to them and they go
Vision better,,,,defintaely...no halos though i do get some bad starbursting on the top of the lens...again i think this is down to fit and I will mention it.
So all in all im not doing too bad what i wanna learn i suppose is:
1. How to pinch the eyelids together to get them to just pop out
2. How to properly clean them...still not sure I know for sure.
If anyone else is struggling id suggest perservere!

Re: My RGP'S
1. I used to "blink" out my RGP's in this way. A Get a clean cloth and spread it out on a flat surface. B Look straight down at cloth, with nose nearly touching it. C with a clean finger draw back the corner of the eye from which I wanted to remove a lens. D Blink
the lens would pop out of my eye and land somewhere on the clean cloth.
2 Cleaning was a wonderful daily routine. When the lens was out of my eye I'd fill it with LC 65 (later Bausch and Lomb Elite) and rub it between the finger and thumb of my hand. I'd then rinse with saline and store in Total. Once a week, after the first part of the procedure I'd place each lens into a vial with water in which I was dissolving a protein remover tablet After a couple of hours I'd rinse with saline and store the lenses in Total.
All the best
