Since I detached my lens the other week and had emergency surgery to save my graft, I have loads of tiny floaters out of the bad eye and blue dots in the central vision. Luckily this is only noticable in certain light conditions.
Looking on the web this can be a sign of retinal detachment but as I have had several very thorough checkups after the op, I am confident it is not this, and also I have no experience of other detachment symptoms.
I wondered if the lens part of the eye usually filters these out and until I have a lens implant next year I am stuck with them?
Or maybe it's because of the blow to the eye and they will eventually clear by theirselves?

Re: Floaters and blue lights
Hi craig
I to have floaters but bot blue dots i went to my opticiona and they phoned me local eye casualtiy which i later attened. I had floaters in both eye and the doctors checked them out to rule out retina attachment etc which fortunally for me was ruled ou like you i didnot have any of the other symptoms eithert. They also told me that they are more com then you might think and some peoplel have them and do not even though that they hvae as they cannot see them but some can we can cause anuisance. they also told me that I would get used to them after a while and will not notce them and if i do see them it will broabely then i not looking at detailed things. I hope this will be the same for you and hope it is not caused to your ecent incident. Any way take care and hope your eye gets sorted
regards

P.S i do know there treatments out there if floaters get to big or theres far to manny and they are rally obscuring vision but as KC sufferers this will probaly be hard to tell. I also read some where cannot remember were that floaters can happen after surgery and sum sorts of eye injury although they are not usually sereious.

It's where I go, just wondered who you see?!
When I was a "normal" KC patient I saw Dr Rubenstein, since the hyrdops and graft I always see one of Professor Dua's team (saw the man himself one week after my original graft when it was the xmas hols!)

Re: Floaters and blue lights
the lens gets more yellow with age. if its yellow it therefore reflects light of yellow wavelength and absorbs light of blue wavelength....i think from what i can remeber from physics class 6 years ago. also the lens plays a role in pre retinal absorbtion of light and absorbs some of the uv light which would otherwise damage the retina. so...this may explain why you are seeing blue dots. with regards to floaters its caused by shrinking of the vitreous(jelly type fluid in the back of the eye). its made up of water and collagen, and floaters are caused by the condensation of collagen fibres.its nprmal to get a few but when you have quite a lot then its one of the signs of retinal detachement,

I wondered about detachment too, but it is now over two weeks since my incident and I have had two very thorough checkups on my retina. Also I've had no other symptoms.

Hi craig i am under Mr Maharajan and usually see the man himself i have seen a member of his team a couple of times although when i have still see him. Mr maharajan is a general/cornea specialist. i am due to see him in a week or so following my graft tgat i had back in july This is were i will find out for defantly whether the graft is attaching or not as I had to have abubble put in my ere to help my own cells atache to the new cornea in the middle as they weren't attaching themselfs. Worst case scenario if it hasnot worked is i will have to have pk graft done.
but thatd nothing compared to what your going through at the minuie
take care and goodluck with every thing

Craig
I had a lens imnplant in February and see floaters in that eye. Oddly, I see them mostly when I am working at my computer, and I am wondering whether this arises because I am focusing on something only about 12 inches from my face. I am never bothered with them if I am looking at anything much more than 3 feet away.

I wonder if that's who did my emergency operation just over two weeks ago (Professor Dua was away)?
Don't belittle what is happening to your eye compared to mine. We all go through different things on here and each is as bad for that individual!
I had a down day yesterday, like a cloud over my head. I think it's because my original graft was doing so well and now I am back to 7 months ago with worse astigmatism and sans a lens
