Got my final exam results yesterday and passed them all. I'm extra happy because I managed it without lenses in both eyes, even though I sat in the wrong seat at my first paper (A good friend saved my butt that time). I also had to examine someones ears and give a diagnosis which I was able to make out with my better eye somehow (Good eye day).
A bit nervous about starting work in august and hope that I have sorted my eyes out by then to be able to wear lenses. I've written about my KC on my Occupational health form but not quite sure how the hospital I'll be working at will take it. Going to see them on monday for 1 week of shadowing my predecessor. Wish me Luck.
Now a Dr with KC

Congratulations!!
I am a nurse (qualified six years ago) and have found that occupational health have been brilliant with me. I gave them the 'employers' booklet and they understand when I have bad eye days and can't wear my lens. I also only do three nights in a row and have an extra night off to rest my eye.
Hoping that you do well with them! Enjoy your new job and learn loads!!! Also be nice to nurses as they can be your best friends when you need a hand with a difficult patient, doctors rounds and presenting patients to senior staff!!

Hi Bruce
Congratulations on passing your exams.
Hope your job goes really well.
In a hospital hopefully all will fully understand your condition or at least be able to read up on it and familiarise themselves. Hopefully you won't get any silly questions or statements such as 'why can't you see?' or 'why not be less vain and just get your glasses on?'
take care
Susan

don't let the people that mean nothing to you get you down, because in the end they are worth nothing to you, they are just your obstacles in life to trip you up!
