Well done Jay,

Sorry to have not been supplying the required distraction in your first week!

That sounds like really good news so far. I hope you continue to improve nice and quickly.

It's interesting to note that your vision immediately post-graft was better with a DALK than a PK. For me it was the other way round, but of course, my DALK was performed minus an epithelium!

Jay

I am delighted to know that things are going so well in your immediate post-graft recovery.

What meds are you using?

Thanks Emma and all

John : Yeh I did check on Thursday and figured that it must be serious! With regards to epith, I agree....but in all honesty with the PK i could nowhere near open the eye for ages unless there was topical anaethetic. Id say in comparison that I am at equivalent of week 5 on the PK of the Week 1 on the DALK.

Andrew : Only Tobradex, 4 times a day. Thats it, nothing more nothing less.

Other stuff that Im using is more nutraceutical based and aids in the regeneration etc.

Jay,

Really glad that things went well and that your vision has started so well!

I never had photophobia or difficulty opening my eye post DALK.

Take it easy and let us know how you get on!!

Hi

Just an update really, 11th day Post Op

Excellent so far.

Got 6/12 Pin Hole which was impressive.

Eye has healed really well and I now have no kind of uncomfortable feeling at all!

All in all, extremely positive and next appointment in 6 weeks!!

Oh wow Jay that is fantastic news!!

My vision is not as good but that is because I have creases in the cornea which I am hoping will resolve in time. Daya is an excellent surgeon and glad you are getting on so well!

Best of luck in six weeks!!

Excellent news Jay :D really happy for you.

I am now getting 6/12 with glasses, still can't believe it, even had it sent to me in writing the other day and it still hasn't really sunk in :D I am going to have to stop celebrating soon

The recovery from a DALK is not so bad is it. I was pleasently suprised at how easy it was.

Good luck at your next appointment.

Just an update really

DALK eye is doing very well, still need to have sutures out but to be honest since the post op 10 days mark to now, I have not had a single issue with this eye. Light sensitivity in grand scheme of things has been non-existant, and all is progressing well.

Jayuk, cheers! We are "brothers in DALK" as mine was also in April. I have the 16 point running stitch in yet, as well and they project a full year for it before removal. My vision is OK....but not great. Correctable with an RGP but the pain has been humbling to say the least so I don't wear it much. A new one is on the way, hopefully with a better fit.

My light sensivity is fairly high most days and worse on the painful days. I wear dark glasses outside always. Hopefully that will subside sometime.

Glad you are doing well. I am confident that you feel as I do, even on the bad days, even though our vision is not what it was when we were boys, it is amazingly better than it was before surgery and a blessing to be one of those persons whose vision has been restored.

Piper
