I came across a website offering C-Kone lenses (link below) which apper to be designed specifically for Keratoconus.
http://www.lensdesign.ca/kerataconus.htm
I have never seen any previous reference to C-Kone and am wondering whether anyone has heard of this design.
As the link on several occasions refers to the risk of blindness for untreated KC, I'm not sure how seriously one can take the content. Also, the refernce to the incidence of KC is somewhat different to our understanding, unless the Canadian experience is significantly different to ours!
Anyone heard of C-Kone Lenses

In the diagram the lens looke remarkably like a Rose K lens.
I think the difference is where it refers to computer contour blending so the back of the lens matches the cone, so more tailer made than a Rose K probably is.
The incidences of KC would appear to be much lower, but as we know from many past discussions it has been put forward that different ethnic groups have a higher incidence than others. As I know nothing about the ethneic make up of Canada compared to the UK I can not add anything further.
It will be nice to have more info on these lenses as at face value it appears it could help keep us in lenses for longer before the need for surgery.

I liked my Rose K lenses when I had them. if these new lenses are even more tailored to the idnificual eye they must be amazingly comfortable. the only problem that I can see is that if the cone develops then the fit will much more easily become 'off'.
I wonder whether any of the optometrists in here know any more about them?

Sanba, you sound like you are having a rough time at the moment, when is your next appointment at Moorfields?
Have you thought about seeing someone privatly just as a one off to get things moving.
You could do this with Ken Pullum about Scleral lenses. I did and he tried them on me to see if the fit was good etc. I could of brought them from him but they were VERY expensive.
About three months later i saw him a Moorfields when i got fitted again and then picked them up a couple of weeks later.
One thing i learnt from Moorfields is you have to push all the way!! not that i wanted to or that i am that sort of person but i was left with no choice in the end.
Hope you get something sorted soon
