Tinted lenses for glasses

Postby Kevin Delaney » Tue 03 Oct 2006 2:45 pm

Hi All

I posted back in early summer as a new user to this forum. Short background for you, i have KC in right eye, very steep cornea, I also have disability in left side, very little dexterity in hand/fingers. I was told that due to limited use of hand and steepness of cornea lenses would be no good, was advised that maybe graft would do trick. But as I have good quality of life was advised not to rush into a graft.

Basically i get headaches over right eye, quite severe ones. But I have found that when I wear my sun glassess all seems ok. My question is can you get permanent tints for everyday glassess? I do have reactalights but find i need constant tint.

Anyone had same issues? I think a visit to my optician is needed.

many thanks for reading this

Kev

PS I go back to the hospital for check up in may 2007.

I believe you can get your normal lenses tinted, and can even get 'transition' lenses, which only tint when in light- i.e. they will remain clear inside.

I think you are right, visit the opticians, they can usually show you the different tints available.

Any optician will be able to sort this for you.

I have a set of plane lenses, no focusnig power at all that are permanetly tinted to the exact level I require.

They only cost about £35 from specsavers and got a spare set free.
