Saline Issues With Sclerals

Postby tom needham » Thu 03 Aug 2006 9:38 pm

Hey all'
It has been a while since i posted last,
i wondered if there were any others using sclerals who had issues with the saline they use.
i have been using 25ml packets of normasol which are un-resealable. my problem has been finding a suitable container to put the rest in for the remainder of the day. it is not possible to use a new one every time as i need to 'reset' my eyes about every 2 hours, id go through tonnes of them. i found a little bottl;e with a flip up lid but it gets loads of sand etc in it. what would be perfect is a 25-30ml bottle with an internal pippette.
Any Ideas or suggestions?
Tom

Hi Tom,

Many of us use "Amidose" for filling sclerals - they come in "single use" tubes, but the tubes are resealable with a screw cap, and can in fact be used for several days if you're careful.

Tom,

After a recent visist to Moorfields the contact lens consultant mention it was possible to use LENS PLUS PURITE SALINE instead.

Thought that was a bit strange when he siad but he mentioned that both Amidose and LENS PLUS PURITE SALINE are the same, therefore shouldn't cause to much problems.

I am not advocating this as I am happy with what I am using. Also a product called Steriod is simular amidose. (i.e. tube shaped), but does not come with a resealable screw cap.
