Another lost contact :(

Postby Jo » Tue 27 Jun 2006 8:24 am

So i was at the Eye and Ear Hospital yesterday, i had an appointment regarding this new treatment, which they are trialing at the moment, its called "Corneal Crosslinking" (find out more about it here, if you dont already know about it - http://www.keratoconus.asn.au/CC_study.htm) They want to do the treatment in my right eye (im having a graft in my left eye tomorrow).
So anyway, i was having this photo thingo taken of my eye, and i 'blinked' my left contact out, GRR! I luckily managed to ctach it, and went to put it away, but i dropped it on the floor of the hospital. So there we were (Me, my Mum, and the lady taking the photo thing) all crawling around on our hands and knees trying to find this damned contact lens.
We couldnt find it anywhere, so thats another lost contact. I suppose it doesnt matter all that much, because i am having the graft in that eye tomorrow, so i wouldnt have needed it after that anyway, but i cant stand going 1 hr without it, let alone 2 days, so its very frustrating, as im sure you all understand.

Good luck for the graft.

Once you have that done hopefully you will forget about the lens.

Would be easier if hospitals had decent coloured carpets which made finding a lens real easy.

I know the feeling- I've lost many lenses before, the most annoying being when it fell out in the school corridor and I saw it on the floor until a crowd of people came along...
All the best with your graft.

OH Jo,

I sympathise completely. It is a very annoying (not to say expensive) hobby - playing hunt the contact lens!

I have been relying on two left lenses since Christmas, after loosing two right lenses - one on a crowded bus and the other in M&S -on the day before christmas eve - You can imagine how popular I was with the service staff. After half an hour of searching my mum found a crushed piece of plastic which we think may once have been a very expensive custom made contact lens.

The interesting thing is that the left lens I wear in the right eye hasn't fallen out, not even once - it does hurt though and I think it might be gradually carving a groove into my cornea so I am looking forward to my new lenses - due anytime soon :P

Good luck with your graft, hope everything goes well and that you are back posting on the boards, about how easy it all was, very soon.

Hey at least it was not the right one. Did I mention my middle name should be Pollyanna.

So you are doing the crosslinking trial. I would be very interested to hear how that goes. Mysurgeon is not involved in that trial but he is really excited about the prospects.
