Laser after Lamelar Grafts

Hi guys,
I´ve went to a doctor here in my country that performs prk for keratoconus patients with some success. Well, my desease evoluted a bit so he said my case is not possible or the prk.
But dhe told me to try a lamelar transplant instead of a complete transoplat.
He said the healing was faster and the rejection is almost zero.
ALso he said he could do lase after.
My qustion: Is it possible to have a laser after tranplants? Does anyone here have a graft and a leser procedure?

Hi Jera,

In the UK surgeons who do transplants seem to avoid doing laser surgery as a follow up.

However if Per is still visiting the board (think he is from Norway), I think he had laser treatments after the transplant.

I don't think it's a matter of routine, but at one point, it was suggested that I think about having "refractive surgery" with a laser on my grafted eye.

It was explained to me that the laser could make things worse, though it was not likely to do so. Similarly, success could not be guaranteed.

I chose not to proceed - at least at the moment.

Lasik is performed in Scandinavia on all types of grafts. I have not heard of any person with worse eyesight after a post graft lasik. How good the final result is depends on the graft. Normally if a graft is successful and a normal soft contact lens is possible to fit and the eye tolerate it, they avoid lasik.
