Sorry folks not feeling myself and need to let off some steam.

Tired of being trapped indoors - too sunny outside and eye too sensitive even with sunglasses (optician laughed when I asked about prescription wraparound sunglasses - not an option apparently).

Frustrated at not being able to do a tremendous amount, reading etc requires a certain amount of light which again is uncomfortable.

Can't use laptop for too long cos again light makes things uncomfortable.

Feel useless about not being able to do anything round the house (banned from lifting stuff etc and not allowed raise blood pressure too much) SWMBO isn't grumbling but thats not the point.

Saw GP today who insisted on signing me off for two weeks despite me saying "can I just have one week and come back?" and was told to go home and rest.

Grrrr

Feeling bored, impotent and just plain sorry for myself.

Will borrow wifes sense of style and go and buy a hat I think.

Paul, after the last few weeks I have had at work, dealing with some redundancies and some horrendous stressful situations, I'd try to look on the bright side. Sorry I do feel for you, it must be frustrating, but it could be worse. You obviously have a pleasant comfortable home to be in...just try to relax and treat this time as a bit of a holiday.

Ah ha... I can help you there because I asked exactly the same question of my Optician this afternoon. We were looking at his range of splendid Adidas Wraps which I had taken a shine to. Now they cant fit a lens in the sunglasses, but they have clever gizmo, whereby a second set of lenses sits just behind the blank shaded plastic lenses.

Looked brilliant to me, but wasn't too cheap (100 pounds +) but if you really want wraps, it can certainly be done.

Daft suggestions, but sounds like you need cheering up, get your missus to get you a pair of welding goggles. Far darker than sunglasses and only a couple of quid

Bit sick of that one! My hubby is a metalworker and has offered me his goggles on many occasions.

My sympathies ( I posted my discomfort earlier in the week ). But as a forty something woman I can't really see myself in wraparound shades and a baseball cap!

excellent plan!

Though just a few minutes ago, my missus pointed out that there is a ski shop round the corner (really) and I could use a ski mask.

She didnt seem keen on the idea that I sleep in it on the grounds that it could be more comfy that the eye shield!

Feeling much better this morning, dunno what happened yesterday.

Anyway wedding to go to this afternoon, so that will get me out for a bit, not going to the reception though.

Only reason I suggested it, there are different grades of welding goggles depending on the type of welding equipment you use, I find I have to use a darker set of welding goggles than is generally recomended.

Val.. Why not?? I am 40 something too, and wear wrap around shades and a baseball cap, most of the time, told I looked cool once.... Just going to attempt to put the powered lenes in again. Scared....

I think that RNIB have rap around sunspecs that you wear over your prescription glasses.

Ask your gracious wife to peel you some grapes.

I had to beat a hasty retreat this afternoon. Set out to drive to our local hospital (work not a personal visit). it was not only cloudy; it was chucking down the rain. I decided that I'd have no need for my light excluders.

Three minutes out and the sky cleared and the sun shone. My light excluders were in exaclyt the worst possible place: at home while I was in the car.

will I never learn? Probably not.
