No need to be corrected Gareth - it is Janet Manning. I'm sure that she'll post something in reply...

Homeopathy

Postby Tammy Downsworth » Mon 20 Mar 2006 6:14 pm

There was a chap at the 2005 Conference that was extoling the virtues of Reflexology. Any chance of that conference DVD being available soon?

Didn't think about homeopathy as an alternative and I would be interested in anything to help dry eye's, and allergic conditions. So that's two of us. Any one out there a homeopath?

Tam

Hi Tam,

Yes, it is actually not that far from completion now... I've built all of the morning session now and the afternoon should be easier (John Dart's presentation was quite awkward to capture!)

We've then "just" got to deal with the duplication and distribution delays.

Watch this space!

Hi Sami,
As predicted here I am! Just been a bit too busy to log in for a couple of days.

I am a qualified and registered homeopath and also have KC and grafts in both eyes, so I am used to using conventional medicine alongside homeopathic remedies. Personally, I have found that consistent homeopathic treatment can really make a difference. I am no longer on a daily steroid inhaler for asthma and only use Ventolin about twice a year. I manage to control eczema without resorting to steroid creams and my allergic responses are no longer as acute. Best of all I feel so much better without being full of drugs all the time. You get used to the side effects and don't realise how much they affect you. I nevertheless appreciate that something like Ventolin can be life saving and thus very necessary at times.

I am happy to offer 'first aid' type advice on the forum, e.g. ointments for eczema, remedies for corneal ulcers/hydrops etc., but homeopathy is a very individual treatment. Homeopaths treat the whole person, so we take into account how someone feels about their condition. You will read over and over again on this site how individual the physical side of KC is. You will also see how very differently each person responds. What is no problem for one person is a huge problem for someone else. For instance if we are having a tough time in another area of our life, it might make us feel more vulnerable about the KC and thus less able to cope at that time. This is where this forum is so helpful. It helps get things into perspective and is a source of advice, when we are panicking and can't see a way forward. We've all been there!

I cannot prove anything because I have no 'control' group, but my recovery from the grafts was excellent, using homeopathy. When I returned to the hospital each time, the day after the graft, the nurse commented that she had never seen anyone look so good the day after. I have only ever had one minor rejection episode and that was significantly when I was feeling very emotional because my father almost died. This reinforces what I said above about how our emotional state affects the physical condition.

Homeopathy addresses these issues and can be very powerful in not only improving the physical condition, but also in helping us feel more confident to deal with the emotional aspects. I will be happy to suggest a choice of registered homeopaths in your area - you can send me a PM. Alternatively you can phone the Society of Homeopaths to get an up to date register of properly qualified homeopaths 0845 450 6611.

I am treating people with KC, some of whom come a long way to see me. Some follow up consultations can be done over the phone, but not the initial ones. I would be happy to treat you too, but a lot depends on where you live. I am in Oxfordshire. It goes without saying that I maintain complete confidentiality and would never reveal who I am treating. It is up to them if they wish to say.

I hope this helps. Janet

Janet

Can I ask what you did pre and post graft to recover so fast?....as your recovery sounds like mine in terms of heaing time....and my recovery "stack" as I call it is based around OTC supplements and higher protein consumption...

If you live in Glasgow there is a homeopathy hospital to which you may be able to get a referral from your GP. I do not know about whether they have any experience of working with KC.

Hi Jayuk,
I had my grafts with local anaesthetic. I took Arnica 1M before and for several days after about 3 times a day, gradually reducing the doses as I imroved. This is for shock, healing and bruising.

After the first op, I was wheeled out in a wheelchair and my teeth began to chatter with shock. The remedy was in my bag, which I could not reach, so I accepted the cup of tea, which gradually solved the problem. With the second op I kept the remedy in my pocket and took it as I came out - result, no teeth chattering!

I also took Staphisagria, which is great for recovering from surgery and Hypericum for healing, cuts and nerve pains.

Pre op I had Aconite to hand for fear, though I didn't actually need it in the end. Used hypnosis instead.

Interesting that you paid special attention to diet. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary in that respect.
