To the Scottish lady i saw in Dayas last Friday!!

Postby Sweet » Wed 15 Mar 2006 10:41 pm

Hey there! This is to the very nice Scottish lady i saw at Dayas practice last Friday!

I'm not sure if you read here but thought i would write just in case! I'm sorry i didn't have time to talk to you properly before you were seen and that i didn't catch your name but was just wondering how things went?

I'm hoping that you read here as am wondering if you can share the treatment you have had with us, being ocular lenses. I'm figuring that as this isn't done in Scotland that you got Dayas info from somewhere so thought that maybe it was online and you read here? I just wanted to wish you all the best, to say thanks foir chatting to me and making me feel better and am hoping that you flew home ok?!

Take care, sweet

No takers so far Sweet.

I have been in the same position of meeting random people who have KC but not having anyway to point them to the group.

Would anybody mind if I had a little card made up (I think I can manage to do it myself on my computer) to give to people whom I meet. It would have things like the KC site URL, maybe a contact eMail address for Elizabeth etc.

I know I need to ask if I am going to include people's contac details.

Cards What a good idea

Postby Tammy Downsworth » Mon 20 Mar 2006 1:00 pm

Though personnally I've sat in so many 'eye related' waiting rooms but never come across anybody with KC, at the Royl Manc Eye Hosp (which I affectionately term "th'eye pokers"), I often get an urge to shout to the throng waiting, but my natural shyness  takes over, or the only time I asked someone, theirs was a totally different (and potentially a lot worse) condition so I shut up.

a chap who works in the same building as me I have known for 20 years or so, and he's waiting for a transplant due to operation scars/damage following detached retina surgery, so I have given him all the info on this site and he's reading the posts.

I know we have tee shirts and I try to wear mine whenever I go to the hosp, perhaps as well as cards next time I go I'm going to ask the receptionist that if they know of anybody with KC, and maybe it'll be worth trying to introduce myself.

I have toyed with a pin idea as well but if we have trouble seeing things less than three inches or so diameter, we'll never see a badge or pin on a lapel, cept maybe from the glint/glare.....

To get to my point, can we use the logo from the website?

Tam,

Yes, you are most welcome to use the Group logo to help find other sufferers. We use it ourselves to find people when we have a social meeting.

I've posted an A4 PDF of the logohere.

To the Scottish lady

Andrew - we already have some cards with the logo, website address and KC PO Box address. I don't have huge numbers, but can happily send you some (and to any other members who would like some to hand out to KC people they meet). And we'll get more supplies printed - people could then leave some at the various eye clinics they go to all over the country.

Hello all

Did we get any further with having an updated poster that we could ask to be displayed in the various eye clinics?

Whenever I go I can never find anything that mentions KC and I am sure more than just me must at time look for a direction in which to turn for support.

If a poster could be on a PDF I am sure we could just print it out and ask for them to be displayed in the various clinics.

best wishes

Susan
don't let the people that mean nothing to you get you down, because in the end they are worth nothing to you, they are just your obstacles in life to trip you up!

Hehe i have talked to so many people from here recently about feeling the need to stand up at an eye clinic and ask if anyone is there from the forum! LOL!! The thing is with a welsh accent i'm pretty sure that i could be found if anyone was there!

Hehe we are an odd but shy lot you know! Although as my dad is always reminding me i seem to have no worries with talking to anyone i meet!! Maybe it's a nurse thing?!!!

Tammy

I'm like you. I feel that it would be good sometime hjust to shout in the waiting room "hands up all here who have Keratoconus". But I never do. too polite!
