Jayboi,

Why will it look bad if you take a job and are then off ill?

As long as the condition is explained up front, if it is frowned upon thent cahnces are it is a case of disability discrimination. After all we do have a recognised sight disability.

I agree with Gareth, give potential employers the opportunity to do the right thing! :D

If they don't, complain likd mad, but in my experience when you give folk the chance to surprise you by doing the right thing, they often do!

You are sure to be feeling sick, and even a bit headachey because of your tonsils.

Give yourself time to recover, but don't put your whole life on hold because you have KC.

I've had this all my adult life and have managed to do things that folk without KC can only dream about.

Jayboi,

In addition to tonsilitis, you may well be suffering the physical effects of stress which considering what you have been through is a posibility.

I know many people with KC and include my self that have had time of work due to stress because of the effects of stress.

What has prompted me to say this that Is ent one of my staff home complaining of headaches and nausia. They called in after they saw the doctor to drop of a letter that says they physical illness is stress related. The problem this person has is related to their home life.

It may be another avenue to investigate to make sure when you do get lenses you are not still left feeling ill. I know when i got my lenses the stress did not go away and i needed further treatment while I readjusted to get back into the work flow.

This will mean more doctor visits, but after re-reading your posts and what I have been through today, I do feel this would be well worth expoloring.

Jayboi,

Hoping that you get this sorted out soon, it is bad that you have tonsillitis as well. Drink loads of fluids and regular paracetamol will help with any pain and temperatures. Wishing you all the best.

If you are sick then you need some time off work. I stressed about having sick leave so much last year when i was blind for seven months, but when i did finally go back to work i realised that nothing really changes. They can cope without you for a little while until you feel ready to go back so please don't worry about it. KC is bad enough as it is without us stressing over sick leave!

Jayboi, sorry you're having these problems.

First: what part of Cheshire are you in?
I used to live onthe Wirral and used to get my contact lenses (by referral from Clatterbridge Hospital, as it then was, in Bebington) from a lens fitter and KC-knowledgeable person called Keith Nelson. I went to see him in Hamilton Square, at an optician's called Render Layfield (I think that's how you spell it).
I seem to recall he had other addresses as well, though can't remember know where. (Try Yellow Pages, or e-equivalent.) If you're that side of Cheshire, I suppose you could get the train to Ham Square and walk round - I think it's on the town hall side, but it's a few years ago now!

Second: have you told your doctor that you're getting nausea and head pain? - if not, please do. Note: I didn't say headaches - if you're getting the pair together, it sounds to me like you could be developing migraines (no, you don't have to see flashing lights to have a migraine). Stress can be a trigger, as can bright and/or flashing light.

Hope you get things sorted out.

Rosemary
