Please be very careful of anything that gives lists of "essential" supplements to take, whatever they are supposed to be aiding.
I see many such things, and they are generally put out by people who are selling supplements.
The article jayboi's friend's friend found sounds all too like the "whackier" type of alternative health stuff found in all too many magazines - designed to sell quantities of tablets and potions to the uncientifically minded paranoid.
If anyone suggests you take any sort of vitamin, mineral, bio-whatever or similar supplement, the first thing you have to ask is "and what do you have to gain if I do?"
For some, there may be genuine justification, and some may do no harm.
Alas, I've seen far too much pseudo-scientific quackery that debunked means nothing - and alas, some that could indeed be harmful to more than the bank balance.

The only thing I would add here is that sometimes these supplements CAN be harmful. For example, taking vitamin A to excess can damage your liver and I have seen patients take various different supplements that added together contribute far more than the recommended daily dosage.
This is why the Govnt took steps to limit certain "natural" aids, because they were not actually regulated, so action could not be taken against suppliers if substances were questionable.
Also, talking generally now and not about KC in particular, I have known people take supplements rather than seek help, thinking they were doing the right thing only to find they had a condition that would have been more easily treatable if they had sought medical help earlier.
It is always best to check with your doctor about any supplements you take...especially if on medication.

Yes just to add to Lynns post but iron is something that can do a lot of damage if taken in excess. 'Casualty' did actually highlight this in the last episode if anyone saw it?! We do see a few patients with overdoses on vitamins and supplements, so i would advise going to see your doctor just to check first, especially if pregnant! In fairness most of us can get all the vitamins we need from a healthy diet.
