Re: crosslinking
Before my CXL 8 months ago I did not even own a pair of glasses as they did nothing for me so I lived in piggy back lenses. Now, post CXL I wear glasses 90% of the time and just use lenses for sports At the time I did the CXL to 'preserve' my vision , I never thought it would enable me to wear glass...

Re: I'd like advice on cross-linking
No, I'm in Scotland. Depends what kind of Job you do. I had mine on Friday eve, about 5pm and was staying in a hotel that night as it was 2 hours from where I live and they wanted me to be close in case I had a problem. I actually had dinner in the hotel and felt great, then about 8.30pm it was very...

Re: crosslinking
I had it done in Ayr (Scotland) in June last year. Just one eye as my left eye cornea is too thin and too knackered and beyond CXL. I have unusual KC in that my left eye went from no sign to too damaged for CXL in just 6 months. So as soon as I saw symptoms in my right eye I had it CXL. 8 months lat...

Re: I'd like advice on cross-linking
My KC progressed very quickly, it was too late to have my left eye cross linked (cornea was too thin by the time I was offered it) but I had my right eye done as soon as it showed signs of KC and it stopped it in it's tracks. It's not a nice experience to go through at the time or for the first week...

Re: keratoconus research
You know how sometimes in furniture shops you see those 'mechanical bottoms' which are supposed to mimic the effects of someone constantly getting up and sitting down on a chair to stress test it. Well surely they could get corneas and mimic the effects of eye rubbing and then study the effect on th...

Re: keratoconus research
Everyone goes on about eye rubbing causing KC - but people have rubbed their eyes for centuries. I know diagnosis has improved but in the opinion of my optician the number of people with KC in increasing. It is relatively uncommon in the older generation (I mean +75 years) People also say there is a...

Re: Katie Piper - The Science of Seeing
I think you are all being a bit harsh. The intended audience was not a highly informed group of kerataconus sufferers who have either a good knowledge of transplants or indeed first hand experience of them. Instead it was aimed at Jo Public. If the program made just one person sit up and think about...
