Re: Reading and seeing

Hi Lou,

Lots of people who have "normal" vision have the same issue.

Yes "Half eyes" would work well, as would bifocals or varifocals, though I think actually you would probably get on better with bifocals as they can provuide a large stable readibng area.

Re: Hereditary KC

Its an interesting question.... There is definitely a genetic connection, as research is pointing up many genes that have a connection to keratoconus. Additionally, it does tend to cluster in areas which are isolated and have a restricted gene pool. There is new research here that may be of interest...

Re: Prof. Massimo Lombardi and his Mini A.S.R.K. method

It is difficult for us to comment on this procedure as it is not carried out here in the UK. I am also a little unsure about the fungal infection issue. There are studies out there comparing collagen structure between corneas that have had fungal keratitis and keratoconus and they were different. Ce...

Re: Corneal Haze from Cross-linking

Hi All, Yes it is different with everyone and there is also the consideration that with this procedure, the hope is that corneal shape will be improved. For that to happen, some quite remarkable changes have to take place in your cornea. As an analogy, suppose we were trying to straighten up the lea...

Re: Blurriness

Hello there again... A cornea that is affected by keratoconus is about 60% softer than a normal one. This means if my rub your eye, sleep on it or otherwise cause mechanical stress to it, it will change shape. This causes changes in the surface of the cornea that in turn changes the prescription whi...

Re: Solutions for kerasoft IC

Hi Nicky This sound s like a solution issue caused by Crystal Cleaner. This is alcohol based and can cause smearing as you describe with certain materials, this would, affect KeraSoft. I suggest discontinuing cleaning with crystal and just rub and rinse withnyour soaking solution. Let me know what ha...

Re: Corneal Haze from Cross-linking

Hi James Haze is very common after CXL as it is part of the natural process of the procedure. If you had no haze at all, it would not be working. Obviously you were not expecting this level of blurring and it is impossible to say, via a forum, whether what you are experiencing is normal or not. You ...
