Re: waiting period for donor cornea

Hi Melissa and welcome!
Yes, the waiting time does vary around the country. As far as I know, it can be anything from 3 months to a year. Have you been told you need a graft?

Re: Rejection

Welcome back to the forum, Jay, though I'm so sorry that the reason you've been away is that you've been having so many problems. I did have several rejection episodes in each grafted eye - the first was when the 1st graft rejected shortly after the second eye was done. But unlike you, I was lucky a...

Re: is it me...?

Sarah,
If it's only just started happening then it sounds as though the fit may have changed a bit and maybe needs tweaking. So certainly worth going along to your opticians to check whether anything can be done.
I hope all goes well at your graft follow up.

Re: New glasses prescription

Dplees, Many years ago, post grafts and post some complications the hospital reluctantly prescribed me some glasses which they told me I probably wouldn't be able to cope with (there was a very big difference in prescription for the two eyes at that point). At first I felt that buildings were toppli...

Re: new ro KC need a little help

And another welcome. Have you found the KC at Work leaflet which you can download from the home page of this site? That might be useful to give to your employers (though they already sound helpful and sympathetic). And if you (and/or your GP!) would like our basic information booklet about KC, just ...

Re: SOLUTIONS ON PRESCRIPTION

Steven See my reply to Sue at the beginning of this thread. Solutions has been an agenda item at most of the committee meetings over the past year, but as I said, it's likely to be a long battle. As soon as there is any progress to report, we'll post it here and in future newsletters. This doesn't j...

Re: SOLUTIONS ON PRESCRIPTION

Hi Sue - good to see you back here again! You're right, the whole solutions thing is very unfair. Virtually all contact lens solutions are blacklisted as far as GPs are concerned (presumably to stop millions of contact lens users getting their solutions on prescription). BUT Department of Health gui...

Re: Surgery Required...

Hi Bob and welcome back! I did talk to a custody officer a few years ago who rang the KC Group telephone number - I wonder if that was you? It's good to hear that you've been managing all this time and of course your employers are bound to do all they can under the Disability Discrimination Act to f...

Re: Kerasoft lenses

Hi Liz and welcome! Glad you've found us, if belatedly. The forum didn't exist 20yrs ago (no internet then) but the KC Group has been going for over 15 years with members all over the UK who get regular newsletters from us plus booklets/DVDs of the conferences we hold every 2 years. So if you'd like...

Re: Wearing a contact lens post graft

Craig - I have to confess I thought you meant uncorrected! (Another senior moment as I did wonder why you wanted a lens). But it's still good if spectacles give you such improvement. With any luck, the graft will have got rid of all irregular astigmatism which is such a pain in KC and you're just le...
