I worried myself silly about things before my first graft - the psychological aspects of it being a transplant more than the actual op itself. I felt really badly that for me to see again someone would have to die. I just kept reminding myself that they would be dying anyway and that it was their wi...

I think I had my first glasses about nine months post graft. The only problem is that your prescription is likely to be constantly changing so it comes down to whether the cost is worth the short time the prescription is going to be right. It always comes down to money doesn't it? How do you ...

I saw my optician today and after having my prescription tweaked again I get 6/6 in both eyes. :D I feel incredibly blessed and lucky. My daughters are both fine as well. :D Last year I was worried silly about them but after joining here and learning so much from you guys those worries have virtuall...

Add me to the list of who's experienced that. :D I used to do it to see details more clearly, such as reading newspaper sized print or sewing.

Thanks Gareth, it's nice to have an explanation for it. :D

After my first (PK) graft, I too went from "what chart" to about 3 lines the very next day. Unfortunately, those lines vanished again over the next month or so as I healed. Do you know why that was John? Get that man out of retirement  I'll second that because I'd love other KC suffe...

Must see someone about my RFS (random flippancy syndrome). Nooooo! Don't do that. RFS rules! :P I'm with you 100% on the human side of things. It's one thing to know facts about KC but quite another, and just as important, to be able to communicate with people who truly understand the impact ...

Thanks Jay. :D They were both done at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, and both by Mr Sandford Smith who has since retired. I forgot to say that my sight didn't improve much in the months following the grafts. What I had on that first day is pretty much what I have without my glasses now. I'm due to s...

Post graft sight recovery times

After reading about so many people's experiences of how long it takes them to get good or even useful vision after their grafts I'm a bit confused by how different my own experience has been. With both grafts I went from not being able to see the eye chart to being able to read three or four lines d...

I could give you an answer similar to Matthew's but I won't.

When it comes to KC it has to be here. I have found out far more about KC since joining here than I did in all the twenty odd post diagnosis years prior to stumbling across place. :D
