Re: Long term KC sufferer needs new solution!

For mild KC you really shouldn't have to deal with RGPs. I have 'mild to moderate' KC and after trialing RGPs (which I hated) I just went for regular astigmatism lenses. Sure, I may be sacrificing maybe 10% of visual acuity but the comfort is definitely worth it... can wear them up to 10 hours strai...

Re: Driving with KC

My thoughts go out to anyone driving in RGPs! Jesus... that was a (scary) experience. I basically try not to drive at night, which sucks because cars and driving is my biggest hobby. Luckily my fiancee passed her test last year so she drives me around in the dark! I do occasional force myself to dri...

Re: How can I stop Double vision?

Definitely go for contacts... a cheaper way of doing it anyway! Somehow I've gotten away with never actually paying for mine through the NHS, but I believe they're meant to be £56 per eye per year (they won't charge whilst testing what works anyway) They can't see any blurring/whitening of the centr...

Re: New 'epi- on' cross linking techniques

That's true regarding your age, I think my consultant would have point blank refused to operate on me if I was 10 years older. He did mention during one consultation that he would never 'recommend' CXL to anyone over 30... then again, I don't really feel confident this guy knew what he was talking a...

Re: New 'epi- on' cross linking techniques

Sorry to hear of your complication, that must be horrible. What actually caused it though? Has it be confirmed than epi-on would avoid this? I suffered severe corneal hazing in one of my eyes with epi-off but the other eye was perfect (same procedure) There are always risks with these things unfortu...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently

Hi Alex. I'm sorry you're finding the diagnosis so hard to cope with, and sure, it can be life changing, but there's no reason you can't live a full and happy life with keratoconus. Have you had any appointments with experts to discuss needs? As you say, things can be expensive... but for instance m...

At what point did you 'give in' to keratoconus?

Just been having a catch up on here and the thought popped into my head after someone mentioned living a 'normal' life! I... don't really feel like that to be honest, mainly I guess because my (slightly obsessive perhaps) mind is always thinking about it. I've got to the point with my right eye wher...

Re: Contact lens confusion

You say you tried lens at your appointment but do you mean through proper testing glasses-type-things... sorry I don't know the real name for them! Because with simply trying different contact lens that were to hand are unlikely to get you great vision, until you get something properly ordered in fo...

Re: pmcd progression now cxl help

It's a tough one, I'll give you that. My consultant said in general under 30 he'd recommend it, over 30 he wouldn't (unless it was progressing quickly) problem was I was bang on 30 lol. I had it done in both eyes, but with a 6 month gap between the two. My first was almost completely painless, I was...
