Can't really say it's a gift I'd choose Eman but neither has it been something that has affected my life in any major way. If possible could I swap for another gift please, perhaps the ability to make people happy as a talented concert pianist? I was a trustee of a charity for sufferers of cerebral ...

Sounds as if you had a tough time Gareth. I've probably been luckier; never really had a major problem and never thought of it as ever being any kind of handicap. Have always been able to drive and never had any problem wearing lenses. My op is scheduled for a couple of weeks time so I'm not sure if...

Hi Andrew, It's great to hear the thoughts of others who have trodden much the same path. I'd be wildly exaggerating to give the impression that I've no useful sight in the right eye. It's poor compared with the grafted eye but what does surprise is that it varies so much on the circumstances. I ass...

Thanks GarethB and Jay. Terrible to admit but I really don't know what the options are. I wear RGPs without any problems and nothing else has ever been suggested. With the RGP I have fairly blurry vision with the right eye when driving and see some shadow images. I couldn't drive with that eye alone...

Time for a corneal graft?
A few years ago I had a corneal graft to my left eye and, with a RGP lens , the sight in that eye is now very good, better than 6/6. (Without the lens it’s lousy.) A couple of months ago I went for a routine check and while there asked what could be done with my right eye. Under most conditions...

Mine was a good while ago so can barely remember but I think I was fine after a couple of days. The morning after the afternoon op the eye felt like it might after a really bad day with lenses but not much worse. Certainly was fine to travel by train to Moorfields a week later. Couldn't see a blesse...

Thanks Gareth and Sweet. Yes the previous outcome for me was very good but I've no way of knowing how likely that is to be repeated. I had laser treatment on my poor right eye a year back to remove scarring. That helped but I can still only see around four lines or so with it. Consequently I'm effec...

To be honest, I don't think I've ever been given figures except in the vaguest terms. Perhaps I look as if I couldn't manage them. :) What I would like to have though are figures for what proportion of patients achieve a specific level of vision after whatever correction is necessary and at what lev...
