Re: What Rating Does Your Eye Condition Need To Be
Hi Germanti, As Chris says it's how it affects your life. If you can wear contact lenses, which give you good vision, all day and every day then you haven't really got a disability. But if some reason you can't wear those lenses and glasses don't give you enough vision then you can feel very disable...

Re: Pretty sure I got it too ....
Bloater, I’ve had KC for more than 20 years and I’ll try to answer some of your questions for you. On your first visit it is quite likely you will first be seen by an ophthalmologist who will probably look at your eyes through a slit lamp and you may be given a topograph scan to confirm the suspicio...

Re: Breaking in new lenses Jack Allen and Scleral
Anna, I recently got a new pair of corneal lenses which are of a slightly bigger diameter than the previous pair and tried to wear both in at the same time. The left lens is a bit tight so is difficult to get out so I'm fairly sure it doesn't fit properly, but I'm not sure about the right lens. Beca...

Re: Wearing Contact AND Glasses at the same time
Yes I too sometimes need reading glasses over my contact lenses. Although with the lenses I’m wearing at the moment I only need them for small print or in poor light. My right lens is effectively under powered, as although I can manoeuvre it into a place for good distance vision, as soon as I blink ...

Re: New lens problems
Gareth, Yes I’ve been removing the lens and putting the Systane in the lens before putting it back in my eye. I found this a more successful method than putting a drop in the eye with the lens in place. When I have had problems with dry eye in the past I’ve also used a drop about half an hour before...

Re: New lens problems
Yes, I've used a few drops Systane. I've taken the lenses out after few hours and used a couple of drops. I've used them before when my eyes have felt dry but I've not had to use them with the previous lenses. They've helped, but not made the lens any easier to use.

New lens problems
I got a new pair of corneal RGP lenses a couple of weeks ago. The left lens is quite difficult to remove. Normally I can flick lenses out at first attempt, but this lens seems to stick to the cornea and I need several attempts before I can remove it. Also my eyes seem to feel drier the following mor...

Re: Piggy Backing
Claire, Thank you very much for your detailed answer. I went for my appointment yesterday and the corneo-scelrals lenses didn’t fit properly. The fit was slightly better than the previous set but they were not comfortable so I didn’t come home with them. As my current RGPs are not fitting as well as...

Re: New Sight Registration possibility for KC: Input needed
Lynn, I was pleased to see in the KC newsletter that consideration is being given to the possibility of allowing hospital optometrists to register patients for the new vision registration categories. It would have really helped me when my KC was discovered and I had to go without lenses for a month ...
