Re: Contact Lenses after hydrops

Hi Sharon, The fit seems perfectly fine but I am just worried that by wearing the lens I could cause another hydrops. Have you had the fit of this lens checked? As Graham has said in his response the shape of the cornea may have changed due to the hydrops. Like Graham I'm not a practitioner, but I'v...

Re: Contact Lenses after hydrops

Hi Sharon, Sometimes vision can improve after hydrops. On the main part of the website there is this description of hydrops which you might find helpful: https://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/index.php/hydrops-and-keratoconus/ I am surprised to read that your contact lens practitioner is not clear ho...

Re: Lenses clouding up

Hi Jugger, I wonder if this could be lots of tiny bubbles, or froth, forming under the lens. I had a similar problem with a corneal RGP. I was convinced it just needed cleaning and es taking it our several times a day to clean. The optometrist suggesting that I piggy backed the lens with a soft disp...

It sounds as if your insertion technique is correct as you can get the lenses in without bubbles. As the problem is only occurring with the left lens, and it is after ins...

Re: Nhs funding

Hi Has, I believe that hybrid lenses should be replaced after six months. So if you had continued with hybrid lenses you would be paying for four lenses each year. The current charge per lens is £57. Moorfields FAQs does infer this as it refers to the charge relating to six month's supply of lenses....

Re: Help

Hi Has, can you recommend me any opticians in Peterborough that I can go to? There is a list of KC friendly opticians on the Keratoconus Group site website the list can be found here: https://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/optoms/ I think the reason for me getting so many eye infections is due to the ...

Re: Coronavirus and hosp appts

Similarly a suspected retinal detachment would be a trip to A&E. In addition to keratoconus I am very short sighted so I am naturally concerned about the possibility of retinal detachment. Late last year I did experience some flashing lights in my left eye, not enough to panic me, but enough to ...
