Re: KC & scleritis?
Hi Ian, You can use non preserved Systane with contact lenses - they are in single use vials. If drying is seen to exacerbate the condition, then wearing RGP lenses may aggravate that, as you can get drying at the "3 and 9 o'clock" positions of the cornea when using these lenses. Wearing a...

Re: Pain in transplanted eye
Hi Grim First, what you describe is probably due to drying. This can be the case post graft and may be helped by using comfort drops regularly. I also apologise for not getting back to you on another thread after I asked questions about your CXL eye. My thoughts are that before you think of a graft ...

Re: KC & scleritis?
Hi Ian, I am an optometrist as well and can understand the reasoning behind what your optometrist is saying. She is more likely to see what is going on than your GP, as she has access to a slit lamp (the instrument with a bright light that she looks at when checking your contact lenses etc.). A slit...

Re: Crosslinking...? Only one eye and that has kerataconus!
Just to add to that..... There is currently controversy as to whether the Riboflavin drops used at present actually properly penetrate the epithelium. Some claim it does, others claim that only the first 100 microns of cornea are cross linked using current methods. However, there are lot of people w...

Re: Crosslinking...? Only one eye and that has kerataconus!
HI Nicky First, if you are changing from an RGP lens into a soft lens, it takes quite a few weeks for your cornea to settle down. The rigid lenses reshape your cornea and when you come out of them, its takes for them to go back to their natural shape. That's why the replacement lens was a bit cleare...

Re: Sunlight
Chris is essentially correct - its the pinhole effect of a small pupil.
I am assuming that this is without any spectacle correction? If so, then you might be able to get it cleared up with a pair of glasses.

Re: New member 'bubbles' & 'dent' any advice welcome
HI Hayely, As far as I know, BUPA officially does not cover CXL and possibly not INTACs either. The reason for this is that NICE (the organisation that approves drugs and procedures for the NHS) is only very luke warm about cross linking and it is not widely available on the NHS. However, I have kno...

Re: KC Luton and Dunstable
Fatima, If you have 6/60 on one eye, then no, you are not legally blind. If the left eye was 1/60, then, yes, you would be. If you are not sure or cannot remember the exact figures, then you may be even slightly better than this in the left eye. This may be a reason for your consultant not registeri...

Re: KC Luton and Dunstable
Chris/Andrew Having talked with Fatima, the issue appears to be that she has the potential for good vision via a graft (hence the "look to the future" remark) and thus the ophthalmologist feels that he cannot register her as partially sighted/sight impaired. (The level of vision she has rep...
