Re: Prescription confusion

Thanks everyone, I was back at the Opticians today and we're trying another prescription, lenses for glasses should be ready to try next week. I think it's a case of just trying them out. I'm not known for my patience and I was so disappointed not to be able to see a little better with prescription ...

Prescription confusion

Picked up my new glasses today and everything was blurred! Briefly both eyes have been grafted and this was my first attempt at correction for the Right eye, left doing ok which is why I am confused as already wearing glasses for left eye. Having a problem with Right eye in that when I am able to re...

Re: Graft update

Hi Leigh You'll be fine. My eye settled down really well, stitches out in March this year and I went for a glasses prescription today. It's natural to be worried - I'm the world's worst, I worry about everything possible! I used marathon training as a way to focus on something else - it worked, I wa...

Re: Gym after graft

I resumed training for the London Marathon 2 weeks post op. This was after a long discussion with my surgeon who runs marathons etc. I was only walk/running though and am very very slow - 13 min miling or less. I made sure I didn't do anything that might strain my eye - I have horses and didn't lift...

Unfortunately I couldn't get to the conference - the IOM is horrendously expensive to travel to and from!

Laser Corneal Transplants

There was an excellent article in the Times on Saturday about doing transplants with laser. The grafts can be cut more accurately and have a sort of step so it slots into the rest of the cornea. This means that less stitches are needed and healing is faster. Sounds hopeful and an improvement on prev...

Don't panic! It's such a lot for you to take in at one hospital visit! I've had corneal grafts in both eyes, it's not a quick fix but what a difference they have made to my life. You'll be fine. (((big hug))

I fainted when I had my stitches removed too. Second eye I concentrated like mad on a light in the distance - turned out it was an eye chart!! But fainted on the plane on the way home instead!! Try to think of something else if you can - I go through a dressage test in my head - unlike when riding i...
