Re: Lasek after Intacs?
Lol, no way! I am with Dr. Grimm from GEC in the Fairmont Hotel! I have serioulsy never heard anything bad about her and she has been here at least 15 years (she was here when I was at school here!) Everyone has their own opinion though and she is a little 'odd' sometimes, don't quite get her sense ...

Re: Lasek after Intacs?
About the pain, it will probably be the same as CXL as they take away the epithelium (sp?) but not to the same extent as it is only a flap with LASEK whereas CXL is more like PRK where it is removed completely. And yes it was agony for about a day, I just took some really strong painkillers and slep...

Re: Lasek after Intacs?
Silly me, I have just realised you mentioned it on my previous thread! I have considered Moorfields and may go to see them as I have nothing to lose and would like to get as many opinions as possible. Where is your Dr from? Do you know where he was educated etc? Sorry I am a bit pedantic about it he...

Re: Lasek after Intacs?
ce2-batson, do you mind if I ask which Dr. you are seeing here? I am also in Dubai, I have not had intacs but have had CXL in my right eye and has been great in reducing the 'cone' so far (except the refractory error is the same) and am looking at going ahead with some kind of laser surger to correc...

Re: PRK or LASEK after CXL
Thanks, I seem to remember I paid about 80 pounds for my Rose K ones, ah the convenience of the NHS. I used Sunderland Eye Infirmary which was a great hospital so sure I'd be able to get them there, maybe I'll just come home and get them fitted there ;) Haven't ruled anything out yet but I will give...

Re: PRK or LASEK after CXL
Well I saw my regular eye Dr. (the one who did the CXL) and she said that my 'cone' has reduced 1.5D since I had it done, and it is shifting upwards from sagging underneath the central point so that it will eventually be more central and flatter (big plus for wearing lenses and getting a good fit). ...

Re: PRK or LASEK after CXL
Hi rosemary, no I haven't tried any new contact lenses since I gave up with the RGPs (inc RoseK) a while ago. The problem with my eye is that there are 2 corneal 'bulges' that are either side and not central so it is very difficult for me to get a good fit. My vision is amazing with the lenses but c...

Re: PRK or LASEK after CXL
I have been down the 'contact lens' route for years (after being diagnosed at 16/17) and I was actually pretty pissed off at the NHS for wasting my time even though I repeatedly told them I could not wear them, as that gave the KC time to progress but then I guess CXL wasn't available at that time? ...

Re: CXL Debate
I had my CLX covered by my private health insurance, they did try to exclude it on a correcting 'refractory error' basis, but I went back to them with lots of supporting documents/evidence that it is used to stop proression and to try and prevent the need for a corneal graft etc etc and tit is not d...

Re: PRK or LASEK after CXL
Thanks for the replies. It's not that I am not disappointed with the effect of the CXL in my right eye, as the worst case scenario was that it stopped further progression for at least a period of time, which it has and even reduced slightly, so for me it was totally worth it. But now I am looking at...
