Re: NHS or private for Keratoconus contact lenses?

should go through the NHS (I could get a referral to Moorfields through my GP) or whether I should look at private opticians specialising in Keratoconus? That is not an easy question to answer as there are many things to take into consideration. Does your glasses prescription need to be updated? If...

Re: Whats happened to Boston Advance solution?

Boots Advanced Cleaning and Conditioning Solutions are similar to the Boston Advance Solutions.

The Boots Advanced Conditioning solution is even on offer at the moment, 2 for £6. Except they are out of stock.

Re: Limbal cell failure and advanced KC.. help!

I’ve never used glasses out of the house as they make me feel so dizzy. This could be because the brain sees differently through glasses than it does with contact lenses and it can take time to adjust; especially if one is very short-sighted and has not worn glasses for years. I'd been wearing cont...

Re: Limbal cell failure and advanced KC.. help!

The refraction team at Moorfields will take as long as it takes, and I have been an hour getting it 'right'. They also really won't mind if you want to take your prescription to the high street if you prefer. I've known people spend two hours in the refraction department. Often people are only seen...

And don't forget that contact lens cases should be replaced regularly, at least every three months is the usual recommendation.

Re: Limbal cell failure and advanced KC.. help!

Out of interest, did anyone find the balance between close work and long distance sight difficult whilst wearing RGP’s? I suspect I have a regular, eye muscle co-ordination thing going on too but the more we add to my prescription for the myopia, the harder close work is. This could be presbyopia a...

Re: Glasses fitting

Hi Johnny, Welcome to the forum Is that normal to not wear lenses before getting glassss? It's not unusual to do so. It is true that if lenses are left out for a few days a better prescription can be obtained, but most people don't have the time to leave lenses out several days before getting a pres...

Re: Huge variation with my vision

Yes there are people who wear contact lenses with glasses over the top. I have met people with KC who wear glasses over their contact lenses. I think in sometimes this is to correct some of the astigmatism, but I can't remember exactly why it was done. In older people with presbyopia reading glasses...

Re: Huge variation with my vision

Hi Rhys, It was a very frustrating experience because whilst ‘in the chair’ he was able to improve my vision significantly, but wasn’t able to reproduce those excellent results with the lenses. If you got good results in the chair one would hope that a lens with similar results could be prescribed. ...
