C-3R

Hi everyone, I think a lot of the intense enthusiasm that is being displayed by some keratoconus sufferers for C-3R is largely due to the never ending wait many of us have endured for the slow wheels of progresss to actually get around to addressing keratoconus. In saying that, recent evidence does ...

mini ark

Hello Sajeev, Its not so much lies as it is an inability to grasp the desperation faced by KC sufferers... that's not to say we are all desparate :). But it is true we are faced with a disease that affects us in ways that disrupt our normal lives. How can any possibility not be fully researched?? Th...

PARK with vector planning for keratoconus

I just came across this article... very interesting in that laser surgery has always been declared a no-no for KC treatment. Yet here we see that this doctor has over ten years of data covering just such surgery. Just goes to show that nothing can be overlooked in our on going search for a cure. :: ...

Mini ARK in London

Hi everyone, I have recently heard that a clinic in London includes mini ARK as one of its treatment options for Keratoconus. I was wondering if anyone knew any further information about this... it obviously is of no small interest to me as I have already had mini ARK and have for years been part of...

Hi Lesley, No... I am in no way suggesting that anyone should opt for any particular treatment (especially graft). All I am saying is that 'If' contact lenses are found to contribute to Keratoconus then we have to be fully informed of such. And we should then be encouraged to access all that keratoc...

It may very well be the fastest healing tissue in the body but how many times are we, as a contact lens wearing population, to ask it to do this in our lifetime? And to what effect? Its healing because its damaged or contorted in someway how can this in anyway be a positive? Giving our eyes a break ...

Hi Michael, I just caught your post... I'm saying that the we as KCer's are for the most part cornered by contact lenses in that we feel we cannot function ie: do our jobs etc without them. Many feel as you do that the trade off is well worth any minimal discomfort and damage. But I'm saying that al...

Thanks guys for your comments... It funny how we both see this issue from completely different perspectives... Thanks for posting that, Hari. It's useful to see their suggestion that the use of lenses does not cause scarring. Although the 'Contact lens-induced corneal epithelial injury.' article was...

I just had a quick surf and found this (somewhat dated) report. Although this is a lab report based on animal results the last paragraph highlights, for me at least, that when dealing with unstable corneal tissue (as in the case of KC) deep corneal abrasions (even if not scar forming) are probably s...

Hi Gareth, Piper and Sweet... And so do any of you believe that the wearing of lenses in any way causes your cornea lasting damage? I know you have found ways to sooth your problems but is there a chance damage is still being done? This is not scare-mongering its just that I have a real concern that...
