Re: Consultant
Hi there Nigel Crikey, and I get wary giving recommendations as to which is better out of Waitrose, Sainsbury's and M&S for cheese. But I know what it's like to be sat there thinking "where do I turn, who can I have a sensible consultation with about my Keratoconus who'll give me all the op...

Re: Lux lighting levels
Hello there Alan Thanks for raising such a very interesting topic. Lighting is, for me, probably the second biggest issue in terms of living with Keratoconus (the biggest being screen based work). What I've learned is that one size doesn't fit all. Or, indeed, anyone ! By which I mean, for people af...

Re: Fed Up, Upset and Frustrated!!!
Hi there Eileen I was here getting on my soapbox about somthing else when I saw your posting... can't really offer anything more than heartfelt sympathy for yourself and Phillip. I know how annyoing, baffling and capricious Keretoconus is -- one minute it's there, but manageable. The next it's havin...

Corneal Changes After Suspending Contact Lens Wear
Somehow or other, I ended up on the mailing list for the "Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice" journal. I usually avoid looking at anything that drops into my inbox, because (not unlike reading those "Doctor's Answers" type of magazine at the newsagent) you ca...

Re: Soft Lenses / Keratoconus
Hi Ali You've -- maybe inadvertantly just in passing -- made a comment that for me is the nub of this important matter. When you say “... we just do not have the luxury in the HES of going through the whole array of lenses from disposables to sclerals due to time and cost constraints...” I know you’...

Re: Soft Lenses / Keratoconus
Lynn brings up an interesting point there. There's probably some important psychological affects that get in play for long-term Keretaconus patients. A couple of brief (by my standards of writing !) observations: 1) I have myself got into the position after an exhaustive fitting / re-fitting process...

Hi there Sarah As soon as you get a couple of hours spare (ha! I know...) apply for Disability Living Allowance (DLA). You can do this online here: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/eservice/ But it's useful to read the guidance here first: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DisabilityL...

Re: Mac-G Lenses
Hi all I too contacted the manufacturer / distributor for this lens type -- here is the e-mail chain: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris---you are correct, the lens is not currently available in the UK. We will keep your email and let you k...
