Re: Help!!!

Hi As long as the eye is not significantly more red or painful then when you had the graft I wouldn't worry to much. The eye will be a bit tender and uncomfortable for a few days/weeks. I would assume if there was a major problem he/she would have resolved it at the time. With regards to the astigma...

Re: Corneal Graft Tomorrow....

Update: picked soft lenses up. Very comfortable even with 13 sutures still in place. Only wore it for a couple of hours (adding an hour a day). Getting 6/9 vision so room for improvement but its a big big step in the right direction. Bit scary taking it out though. Totally different technique to rem...

Re: Corneal Graft Tomorrow....

Hi Darren I am 18 months post graft. I still can't get the top letter. I had a lot of astigmatism to but they managed to reduce it a bit with removing a few stitches. There is still 13 left but they want to leave it a bit longer for the eye to heal more before removing any more. On a positive side I...

Daily disposble lenses on the NHS

Hi. Been to the clinic today and we re going to try a daily disposable contact lens on my 18 month graft :D ). Anyone got any experience of the NHS supplying this type of lens. Found some older posts that it is £53 for a 6 months supply. Any idea how many months you get at a time and if you have to ...

Re: Drugs after a Corneal Transplant

Hi Jennie It's unlikely you will take oral suppressants. If you have a graft you will be given steroid drops to reduce any swelling and stop rejection. I think I started off at six times a day to start. I am now down to just twice a day. Some people take the steroids for life others stop once the su...

Re: transplant

I had a graft 18 months ago because I was in so much pain. As the other guys said I tried different lenses but in the end I just needed a resolution. I was going to work and coming home and going straight to bed. In my own mind I knew it was time to have the graft, I was 48 at the time. I can read f...

Re: Sunlight

I get the same results. Being into photography I have always assumed its a " depth of field" effect. By decreasing the aperture (iris) of lens on a camera you increase the distance in front and behind a subject that objects will remain in focus. For example when taking a portrait photograp...

Re: First Pair of Glasses

Thanks for the reply Lynn. Not sure what I was expecting TBH having never worn glasses (apart from a few months 33 years ago). The balancing lens was to allow me to wear the glasses for the graft (RE) and the lens in the LE at the same time. In the "Chair" it gave clear vision and adjusted...
