Re: Recommend Keratoconus Specialist @ Manchester Royal Eye

Steven, Please remember the terms and conditions of the forum, one of which clearly states: Not to enter any text that expresses opinion on medical competence, religion or politics in any way. This particular term is there to protect the Charity which runs this forum from any legal action; but for i...

Re: Posting to the Welsh Local Group

Indeed. All members can reply to posts on local groups but can only start topics on the general discussion forum.

If the topic is specifically Welsh in nature, then please post it to the general forum, and pm a moderator who can move it to the Welsh area for you.

Posting problems

We have been having a lot of problems with spam posting over the last few months, and it has kept the moderators really busy keeping the forums clear of spam. To this end, we have tried various techniques in a vain attempt to stop the spammers - who almost always post from countries in the former co...

Re: change screen name

Hi there,

It is a bit buried in the control panel, but it is there...

Click on "User Control Panel" (above), then on the "Profile" tab; finally, the "Edit Account Settings" option on the left.

There you can change your screen name or your password.

All the best,

John

Re: DVLA Form and Keratoconus

Just to confirm that my DVLA experience (only a few years ago) was the same as Anne's. I had to read the numberplate at the required distance; but only because my optician classified me as "borderline". If she had passed me, the DVLA wouldn't have bothered. Don't forget to inform your insu...

Re: How long did you wait for an eye?

In 2002 and 2005, I waited about 4-6 weeks for my donor corneas. Both operations were carried out privately, but I was told that the wait on the NHS was more for theatre time a than for the donor tissue to be available. I was slightly surprised by the 6 week wait for my second transplant, as my surg...

Re: Home page link

Hi Rob,

Thanks for posting that Apache rewrite rule - not sure how that would help us out, though. People shouldn't really be deep-linking to the site, and the home page link is only missing because of a temporary bug in the phpBB template.

Regards,

John

Re: Link to the main home page

Hi Henry,

Actually, the web site does indeed have a non-www alias... unfortunately, the DNS isn't playing ball directing people to the server when not using a subdomain. I'm doing some work on the DNS at the moment, so I'm sure this problem will be fixed soon. Thanks for pointing out the problem.
