Re: A tarnished reputation
We had to change one of my son's post graft appointments in April because of the Ash cloud - we were flying from the IOM. He's supposed to be seen every three months. The first appt offered was 11 June - right in the middle of his night shift - he's a prison officer and does a week of nights every 3...

Re: Corneal Collagen Cross-linking on the NHS
The Royal Liverpool are starting CXL. Son and I are over on 13th Aug to discuss him having it done. Bit of a hike from Bucks though!

Re: Kerasoft 3 Lenses & NHS
I wore Kerasoft lenses for years before I needed a transplant. They were wonderful and gave me my life back. I know they don't suit everyone but you should at least be given the option to try them!

My son has ketatoconus and is a prison officer. He's had a transplant last September and returned to work after 6 wks. No problems employment wise at all.

Re: hereditory
KC is hereditary in my case unfortunately. My son has it. I think my natural mother may have had it too - I'm adopted but she is described in the information I've got as "needing strong glasses" - this would have been in the 1950's or so, not sure what options there were for KC then. I've ...

Re: sports and KC
I was back on my horse 6 wks post graft with Consultant's OK. She ditched me in the sea - in January a few months later! I kept my eyes tightly shut and wasn't hurt at all, just freezing cold! She also fell over on the road with me last year, both fine and my eyes are still intact! It's hard to quan...

Re: Travel Insurance for graftees
I've used Direct Line in the past, declared grafts and think it was a bit extra but not much, certainly not in the hundreds! Luckily eyes have been OK on holiday - touch wood, but had to claim when son needed a root canal filling while in Florida! I wouldn't have minded but we'd been to the dentist ...

Re: sports and KC
Hi, I was at the Royal Liverpool on Friday with my son, both having post graft checks. Son (29) asked if it was ok for him to start playing football again - he's 4 months post op. Our consultant said Boxing/Rugby definately too risky and went on to mention a footballer who plays wearing goggles - he...
