Re: can pregnanvy affect KC?
I have had advanced KC from very young. It was at its most stable during my twenties and early thirties which was also the time of my pregnancies. It began deteriorating again in my mid thities. I had another child at the age of 40 and my eyes seemed to stablise again. Then the deterioration started...

Re: Aussie KC
Hi Liz. Coming to the good country eh? Oz is great! I don't know where you will be but I am in Queensland. I have to travel to our sate captial for treatment. That is pretty standard for Australia. Generalised optomertrists can't help. If you are in a regional area you have to be prepared to travel ...

Re: Piggybacking - general frustration
I tried piggy backing when I could no longer wear RGPs but it just didn't work for me. Like you Karmen, comfort wise, I might just have well worn my RGPs. I ended up trying scerals and was able to wear one. I loved it. Better vision and greater comfort. The other eye just had to go naked

Re: second graft with 30 days
Hi Sheila, I had two injections into my eye (yes while conscious) a couple of weeks ago. Honestly, I found the thought much worse than the actual injections. And the doc warned me one would be 'bitey' for a short initial period. If you can go through having grafts and stitches removed etc you will b...

Re: Gone blind
I presume you meant to say that your doc thinks you WILL get better corrected vision in the long term, not that you won't. Though it seems perverse that you can't get visual aids in the meantime to help you (though that's no different in the UK, alas!) And you're right, surgeons here do use more st...

Re: Gone blind
was dx as legally blind in March this year, (about 3 weeks after my transplant) I found the phone number for the "emotional support" side of the RNIB and had 10 weeks worth of phone councelling from them which was all free and incredible, really helped. I have also been very fortunate and...

Re: Gone blind
As for getting visual aids etc, I have been unable to access much help because the doc has to say I will not get adequate corrected vision in the long term.
Perhaps this is why I am relieved desite the poorer outlook.

Re: Gone blind
Hi Legy I know that in a previous post you were talking about problems with your grafts, which sounded like rejection episodes (and being amazingly upbeat about it all!) Did those problems get resolved or are they still ongoing? Although your consultant didn't expect any improvement in your unaided...

I can imagine the thought of a graft is a relief after recent events. Hope that cream helps in the meantime GandPa Clanger
