I'm just a curious nosy parker type who likes to have some understanding of things as important to me as my specs. I know it's another how long is a piece of string thing but I'm curious to know what the sph, cyl and axis numbers on my prescription mean so I can gauge how good, bad or indifferent my...

I take advantage of the buy one get one free offers opticians often have to get a clear pair of specs and sunglasses (or photochromic ones). In the past I've been able to use a means tested NHS voucher against the cost of the 'deal' without problem.

Thanks for doing this Lynn. :D I'm sat here munching on a choccie biscuit, my latest prescription propped up by my computer, avidly reading. It hasn't all fallen into place yet but I'm sure it will. The diagrams are fine - they help a lot, although I wasn't that far away with how I pictured what you...

Hi Eddie :D Welcome to Leicester. :D I've lived here all my life and can't imagine living anywhere else. I haven't worn contect lenses for fifteen years so I'm a bit out of date on that side of things but three names/places come to mind. Peter Jackson's in Wigston looked after me really well for yea...

I'm like Janet and have a huge collection of hats. I never go out without one. I couldn't do without the photochromic lenses in my specs either. Finding suitable winter hats is more difficult than finding summer ones as they tend not to have very wide brims. An added bonus is that they're great for ...

Looking and sounding good Paul. :D

Improvement is so gradual that you don't realise how far you've come until you look back over a period of time - well I didn't anyway. :D

Yeah, I can relate to that Anne. :( Before my grafts my world was very 'small'. I've never driven and I used to stick very closely to places I knew well and felt confident in. Hubbie worked long hours so it was just me and my girls. On the plus side I felt it made the relationship between myself and...

I can't recall specifics but my eyes were both very sore for months post graft :( and I still consider myself light sensitive :( . I never leave the house without a hat (good job I like them) and photochromic lenses in my specs are essential. Some prescription sunglasses would be great but I've neve...

I rather like Long John Silver. :D Just mentioned your connection with TnT to my eldest and she went off yattering on and on about the World Cup. My eyes literally glazed over - and she still carried on! Oh you have to laugh. It's meant that I've had a lovely peaceful day here by myself today ...
