Understood. I remember someone I was in hospital with long ago who experienced her distress in the way you did, it took up so much of her time and looked really exhausting. Moorfields know there are issues in this direction, infact it was amusing to me when the SHO clerking me for the 2nd graft put ...

How long have you had your graft?

Out of curiosity, how long have members had their grafts? Anyone had theirs for 20 years or longer?
Anyone had theirs for 30 or 40 years?

I know Jay, and I'm thankful for it everyday. It's the not knowing I find hard, I wish someone could tell me whether I will have this for life, or if I won't at what point I will lose it. I find it easier to deal with what I know, even if it's bad. This is a painful area for me because I am a voice ...

Oh poor you Jayuk, sods law indeed that you get the Hydrops with pain. Mine took months to heal like yours and they photographed it every week, the medical photographer shared jokes with me about my next Vogue front cover. Wore dark glasses all the time, would forget to take them off in the evening ...

This is what scares me the most, what keeps me awake at night sometimes. My first graft [and my good eye] is 20 years old, it's failure is my greatest fear.

Oh Sallyuk, this makes me so damn angry, I see what you mean now given your course is in health, this does change the issue. Sadly I'm very familiar with the discrimination within the health service towards it's students & workers. Occupational Health is a mixed blessing, I've seen student nurse...

That's interesting about the driving issue, I never had the courage to learn with monocular vision because I was always scared of the lens in my good eye going wobbly on the motorway. However, over xmas I was given a battle tank voucher! I'm going to drive a tank in April for an afternoon....wonder ...

James

James, being admitted might not mean the graft is beyond saving, I was admitted with an episode of rejection for a subconjunctival injection & hourly drops and the graft survived. Really hope this is the case for you, fingers crossed, everything crossed. Take care

Emma Marie

Emma, what a star you are, if there were KC Oscars I'd award you one! You're an inspiration to me and I'm delighted to hear your progress and glad you got redress with your school. Yeah, being laughed at or disbelieved is really hard, that kind of stuff can be harder than the condition. I found it h...
