Re: Vision after CXL

Practically, you could get your GP to sign you off work if necessary. When is your next review at the hospital?

Re: Graft number 2

I am now ten days post-operation. The original plan was to do a PK graft and cataract at the same time. However, there had been a discussion about my case the day before I arrived on a Wednesday morning. It was explained that in my long term interests to get a better overall result it was really bes...

Re: When lenses stop working !!

It sounds like you have got to the end of the road with RGP lenses and a pretty common story of slowly progressing keratoconus. In fact, your experience is not unlike my own. I didn't get far with hybrids either as they are still in contact with the cornea. It also sounds like your cornea specialist...

Re: Best solution for GP Lenses

Are these small RGP lenses or Sclerals? Oté Clean is a good cleaner, but make sure you rinse it off. Quattro is a good too mainly used with Sclerals but is a multi pupose product (cleans, storage, wetting) but it is not as viscous as some products. You should check with whoever prescribed your lense...

Re: Buying glasses online

It's critical that you get your PD (Pupillary Distance) measured. It is not routinely written on a prescription, you can ask for this from whoever tested you vision or ask them to add it to your prescription. This is important for you as you have an astigmatism and the position of the centre of the ...

Re: Utterly miserable

Hi, my view is eye (and ear, plus a few others) pain are among the worse. I think it is because the source of the pain is so close to your brain. Reading this, and trying to be helpful, have you talked to your GP about the overall picture and how it is affecting you? As you have dependents and are c...

Re: New here and hoping for some help/advice

If you haven't done so already it might be worth you watching the video at the bottom of our homepage Keratoconus: it's past, present and future We also have a number of 'virtual coffee mornings' on Zoom through the year. The next is on Saturday 9th October at 11am . This one is a presentation and w...

Re: Post CXL recovery

OK, here is my personal experience. I found the change to sclerals quite easy but I know some people find the insertion and removal a challenge early on. With an RGP lens you are trying to fit a regular hard lens in a 'lumpy' cornea. Sclerals are quite different: the lens bridges over the cornea fro...
