Re: sclerals+protein deposits!
I scrub my sclerals (RGP ones, daily, and the old PMMA ones before that periodically) with what the people who make mine use to clean them: washing up liquid. I've never knowingly had any problem with protein deposits in 30-something years. No doubt an optom will now arrive juping up and down and sc...

Re: Difficulty with hard lens
I had something very similar when I first got the lenses - just couldn't cope with seeing lens coming nearer and nearer to put it in and blinked despite myself. They had to teach my mum to put them in and take them out so I could go home with thme. I was I think 14. The difference with the lenses in...

Re: Protein deposits - how do you prevent them?
I confidently expect there will be a whole team of optoms screaming at me for this post.... I've never had a problem with protein deposits in 36 or so years of wearing lenses. I have sclerals - made of RPG material for the last nearly 20 years and PMMA before that. I clean them in the same stuff tha...

Re: New Information
That's interesting new info.
I wore glasses for "Ordinary" short sight for about 5 years (age 8-13) before the KC put in an appearance.
That's hardly surprising as just about everyone in my immediate family wears/wore glasses for shortsightedness (with or without astigmatism).

Re: Recently been diagnosed, just need a little help please!
Hallo, welcome and sorry to hear about the troubles with unhelpful NHS. A tempted to wonder if you c ouldn't get a referral to a more helpful hospital/consultant - through your GP - but that would take yet more time waiting for appointments. I'd have thought (and I'm not an ophthalmology consultant!...

Re: please help- eye redness
Taking photos sounds like a good idea. If this is affecting your work, or risking your job, are yous tressing this at the hospital? THeu ought to take notice of things affecting one;s job prospects. As regards A&E - yeah, there is a problem there. If you go in to the triage desk and say "I ...

Re: please help- eye redness
Sorry to hear yo;ve been having this problem. Not experienced this myself. Two thoguths: 1. if your surgeon doesn;t seem t care, can you get a new surgeon? - ask for a second opinion? 2. How often do you blink? - could it be that you are concentrating on staring at the screen so hard yo're forgettin...
