Returning to work after Intacs
It would be interesting to hear from others who have had Intacs fitted on how long they took off work. As it's a much less invasive procedure than a graft, I'd have thought you wouldn't need much time off at all. Medical opinion does seem to be that Intacs work best for less advanced KC and if you'r...

AGM Saturday 24th March
Hi folks. I've had one e-mail from someone intending to come, but that's it so far! We have an entertaining speaker talking about his grafts, we'll be providing coffee and sandwiches at lunch time so that people have a chance to chat to everyone else, so do come along. But please let me know if you'...

A story and a question
Hi Mark and welcome! Your story is a wonderful example of how to live life to the full despite KC. I'm full of admiration! And all the very best with your graft this month. I had grafts in both eyes, two years apart around 20 yrs ago. I took 3 wks off work each time though in hindsight I might have ...

Possible graft
Hi Mike. I'm inclined to agree with Andrew in that it sounds like you have nothing to lose in 'biting the bullet'. My experience was a bit different to yours, in that both eyes were badly affected by KC. So when I had my first graft done, I was then dependent for quite a while on the other eye which...

New to KC
Joe - if you get to the stage of needing contact lenses, then as Gareth and Andrew have said, KC entitles you to contact at NHS rates (currently around £48 per lens) which covers any changes in fitting or prescription for 12 mths. To get the NHS rate, your lenses would have to be prescribed throu...

Hello
Hi Magic and welcome to the forum. And good luck with your graft - you're in good hands there. We have lots of members who go to Gartnavel. I'm sure some of them will introduce themselves before long. And did you see that there's a Scottish group that meets regularly in Glasgow? Their next meeting i...

Quick question
Like Gareth, I've always assumed the holes in the shield are to allow the air to circulate round the eye so never covered them up when I wore one. And as you're wearing it at night when you're asleep, how is the dust going to get into your eyes? Good to hear you sounding so cheerful after yesterday!...

I'm new
Hi Kerrie and welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding lenses that will work for you, but as I'm sure others here will tell you, it can take a while to find the best fit and type of lens for KC and lenses that also give good vision. So I do hope that you have succes...
